I thought the g's gun mantle was flat at the bottom as to stop shell bouncing into the chassis
>>741160531
Actually there's instances of all three variants having zimmerit, but you're right it was mostly applied to the a, because the g's were put out so quick they hardly had time, and the d's we're mostly prototypes so they'd break down a lot
get me the DICKER MAX
>>741160686
Not always, that's called the chin mantlet by the way, and it depended on which factory it came out of. For instance, it's just like some g's came out with rubber edged road wheels and some had straight up steel. Just the luck of the draw.

AWWW yaaaaaa thats the shit
>>741160952
Would you say the panther had superior armour penetration due to the higher velocity and smaller calibre and stronger frontal armour due to the sloping than the tiger 1?
>>741160854
>>741160952
>>741160952
Here's another
>>741161235
Yeah I would, and once they got past the teething troubles ar kursk with the d, it was way faster mobility wise too. You just can't really compare sloped and box armor, it's a definite improvement
>>741161296
The more the merrier
>>741161077
>>741161180
Fucking sweet thanks
got any motorcycles, preferably with sidecar mounted machine guns?
Also moar personnel carriers plz
>>741161393
Wasnt the panther drivers told not to push it as hard as they can because the transmission would break where as the sherman never had that problem because the dove tail shaped teeth on the gears
I still haven't finished my Tiger 1 Initial yet but here it is
>>741161589
I do, hang on
>>741161598
Yeah they were, honestly it was way too shortlived of a tank. It was only in use for 2 years and they could have worked the kinks out of the war lasted longer. There were tons of instances in poland of the tanks shitting out in the retreat in '44 so tons of the panther casualties toward the end were the crews denying the enemy equipment by blowing up the turret
>>741161768

1/35 or it might be 1/72 I forget
>>741162036
Do you know if there were many cases of tanks or planes accidntally destroying friendly captured takes because i know Panthers were captured and used
>>741161783
>>741162005
Easy fix man, weather the fuck out of them with some dust pigments and it'll look fantastic
>>741162179
Not entirely sure about planes destroying them. But my favorite story is definitely of the ersatz m10 the germans disguised in the battle of the bulge
>>741162218
Yeah man just gotta finish the detail painting and I'll dust it out

>>741161665
Mike Rinaldi huh?
Do you have all his Tank Art books?
>>741162163
I have this kit, the GWH BMW R75.
Have yet to build it though
>>741162760
Never read tank art, but I have a few of the osprey guides
>>741162892
Theyre short run books, quite expensive as they are highly sought after.
He does alot of oil paint rendering to add tonal variation. He also uses alot of hairspray technique for his chipping effects.
Heres a marder i was working on. Its finished now, but this is before i did some more detail painting and before i added the tools.
these are all really well done!
>>741163197
What is this exactly?
African theater?
>>741163309
That's a well built marder, we're the decals from the kit or aftermarket? I'm a strong supporter of the hairspray technique. Cheap and effective.
>>741163309
Post finished?
>>741163471
Yep, sd.kfz. 263 from tunisia I believe
Just a reminder, to anyone who's in here. You can make a cancerous thread into a good one if you derail it the right way.
>>741157844
Hoy OP are u French ? saw this one yesterday
>>741163773
What is that sticking up from the driver side fender?
Also, danke
>>741163592
>>741163597
Just took this photo. I have a small cheap photobooth but its in the car and i only have my phone as a camera on hand anyway.
Dragon kit, 1/35 Marder 3H.
More annoying than the average dragon kit, just because the tools dont have straps molded onto them, you get photoetch straps instead.
>>741163995
It's the notek light
>>741163773
Or you could let it die normally and post a sweet scale model thread.
>>741164109
It wouldn't die though, because retards would post in it nonstop, you know this
>>741164106
I used to hate photo-etch clamps and straps but I've come to love them.
Tamiya Pz.II I did ages ago
>>741164106
Great work
>>741164416
Classic, I love going back to the old tamiya kits, the quality is great and there's tons of room for modification
>>741164321
I still dont like them, plastic molded is enough for me but i do prefer PE for grills, brackets etc.
Its useful for scale thickness.
Another of mine. Academy kit.
>>741164566
Awesome paint job, academy's quality has come leaps and bounds in the past few years. I used to hate their kits, now they're a welcome addition
>>741164698
It actually came with a masking set for the camo but not the little dots.
Another of mine, Bronco kit but it was only the second kit they ever made so crude compared to their usual standard. The blade sight in front of the commanders hatch is absent because it was a peice of shit made of PE.
>>741164923
That looks awesome, how did you weather it? That sort of subtle detail is perfect for british tanks. It's the comet isn't it? I'm not as familiar with british armor
>>741165163
Bumpin and lurkin
>>741165132
Yep Comet. Weathering isnt really my thing, im slowly easing into it.
I just dont have the patience yet to draw out the length of a project by going hard on the weathering.
Heres an older photo of some works in progress. I also do aircraft kits.
Im currently working on a bunch of dragon kits:
- Sd.Kfz 234/1
- Sd.Kfz 234/2
- Sd.Kfz 234/3
- Sd.Kfz 234/4 (pic related)
- Sd.Kfz 251
- Sexton II
- M7 Priest
All dragon kits, lately ive been going nuts on them
>>741165696
I see you're a big fan of the 234, I'm the same way with the stug iii. Honestly I kind of hate weathering, but if you just take it slowly it looks better anyway. I usually take months to finish one thing and have on average 7 projects going on at a time. Try using oil paints if you haven't before, it always yields the best result for me
I loved making and painting tanks as a kiddo
>>741165966
It's even more fun as an adult
This is a good fucking thread. Thanks for the tank reference photos.
>>741165874
Yea at some point i will probably buy those MIG mascara oil painters.
People hate on them but its just exchanging money for convenience.
As for the 234, i like wheeled vehicles because dealing with tracks can be such a drag.
Also, i tend to favor open top vehicles like tank destroyers, SPGs and mobile artillery.
>>741166010
I should get back into it ..as it was very relaxing
>>741166083
No problem
>>741166191
Yeah sometimes it's just too fucking tedious to put tracks together. I hate it, but I hate the rubber tracks too. I usually fork over a bit of extra money for the workable ones but god damn it It's so hard to just sit down and do it.
>>741166234
It's easy to get lost in it again, I started as a kid. Didn't touch it for like 20 years and then suddenly it just came back to me one day and I don't ever really want to lose out on it again.
sweet tred
>>741166607
Thx fam
What do you guys use to make Zimmerit?
>>741166329
The rubber tracks are ideal for american armor because of the live track, theres no supposed to be any slack in the tracks, unlike german and russian armor.
The only downside is, the contact surface of them is often rubber so youve got 2 colours to paint on the tracks. But at least construction is easy
heres a kit made by a guy in my club
>>741166958
I use milliput personally. Vallejo makes a putty that is water soluble that I wanna try, I hear it's the friendliest to use. Stay away from sauadron green putty, that shit eats plastic like crazy
>>741167092
Thanks
>>741167067
Beautiful, love the churchill
>>741166958
I dont bother. If i cared about zimmerit, id just buy a dragon kit with it molded into the hull
Wow, What a fucking great thread
More bumps
>>741167250
This thread did not turn out as OP expected
I think the image limit is about to be reached. Remember that this website is what you make it. I've been here a while and there's way more bitching then there Is people actually trying to do something about it. Choose your fate /b/. I'm going back to sleep, this is my only day off this week.
>>741167613
Thanks for the conversation
>>741167613
OH and some advice.
Never buy a kit from Kittyhawk or Panda.
Those assholes deserve to go under.
>>741167761
It was a pleasure
>>741167824
Thanks for the heads up, I didn't know panda hobby was shit. I was gonna buy their marder, but fuck them then I'll take your word for it. Later on anon. I'm sure I'll talk to you once again in the future
Bumpu
>>741167613
Thanks for the good thread mang.
Hope you do another soon
>>741159489
Probably shoot through the right side of the tank if It's facing me head on bc that'll take out the entire crew save one person
