tore my labrum in my hip. it's the cartilage in the ball/socket joint that makes everything slide so nicely. i was predisposed to the injury because i have something called hip impingement, which is a bump on my bone that rubs against the cartilage in a way that's not natural. it happened while i was skiing in the rockies, didn't even fall. started feeling pain midday and felt a clicking noise every time i lifted my leg. when i tried to get out of the car after we got back to the hotel, i could hardly walk.

injury occurred on my left side at 20, had surgery at 24. very likely that i will have the same injury on the right side and need surgery again by the time i'm 40. i'm in great physical shape, sometimes you just roll a shitty die when it comes to genetics.

yeah. luckily i'm still young and i was able to heal from the surgery pretty well. they smoothed the bone down on the side that they operated on so i shouldn't have the same problem again. no replacement needed, it's all natural.

I'm an ER x-ray tech. I had a guy come in one time from a construction site where a 1-ton concrete block fell about 4 feet from a crane when a cable snapped, and it landed on his foot. Block DGAF about his steel toe, but it probably save his foot from being amputated. Most of his foot was pretty wrecked, but once they sawed the boot off, they were able to put everything back together with a bunch of pins. He probably still walks funny, though.

I was on a trip to australia for my 18th birthday and brushed against this fucker.
I've broken bones and been burned pretty bad both before and since. Undoubtedly the worst experience of my life for about a half an hour.
My guide had a jar of fucking watered-down hydrochloric acid and duct tape and saved my ass. turns out its just about the only thing that works for stoping the toxin and getting it off the skin. For about a month afterwards, i could still feel the needles poking, and it still hurt, almost like a heavy abrasion, but it was manageable.
I had a 3rd degree burn about 3 inches in size from welding, and that didn't hurt as much as that toxin.

I have a condition called Trigeminal Neuralgia. It is considered by doctors to be the most painful non-fatal medical condition one can have. The pain is..well, it's indescribable. Words don't do it justice.

I have two phases. The main phase is an almost constant aching in my face, like I've been punched hard, as well as a burning sensation.

Then I get these attacks that are so painful, I cannot concentrate on anything outside myself when they happen. They last for about 15-30 seconds, but that's based on what people tell me. For me, it feels like many minutes of a pain that's part electrical, part stabbing, and a burning/shooting pain that travels all along the length of the nerve. The world goes dark and I grit my teeth. I've broken 2 of them, clenching my jaw too hard. It's everything I can do to try and just breathe.

The attacks can be triggered by virtually any contact to the right side of my face near the nerves. Things that have set off attacks include: shaving, eating anything tough, drinking something that is too cold and holding it in my mouth, having food get stuck between my teeth, a sneeze, heat, and my ex-wife slapping me.

They call it "The Suicide Disease". 27% of all people with this disease commit suicide. It isn't just the pain. There's two reasons: the disease is extremely resistant to treatments and even surgeries (which can result in facial paralysis)....and it the disease gets progressively more painful the longer you have it. Within 5 years, I had gone from a strong father and husband with a good job, to working from home, to being completely unable to work, to having a disability hearing (and becoming a single father). My son's 7. I don't know how I'm going to manage to live until he is old enough to understand why I'd want to kill myself. The pain is already unbearable.
