Transgenderism is caused by a failure of the brain to develop along the same pathway as the rest of the body.

When the fetus is forming, it is originally female, until chromosomes act on it to make it male, which is why there are FAR more MTF transgenders than the other way around. MTF transgenderism is the result of the chromosomes failing to change the development of the brain, but succeeding in changing the development of the body. Other way around for FTMs.

This is supported by everything we know about neuroscience. Transgendered individuals literally have a brain which is physically the opposite sex as their body.

Now the question is whether or not we treat the brain or the body to bring it in line with its counterpart. Unfortunately, we know of NO way to alter the brain to match the body, so we have tried to do the opposite which is where hormone therapy and SRS (which is still a really shit operation with low satisfaction rates) comes from.

My last post didn't have an opinion, but now I will present one in that the argument we should be having is how we treat transgenderism.

Trying to alter the body has proven disastrous for a variety of reasons: social rejection, our incapability to permanently change chromosomes, extreme expense, some things like bone structure we can't change, SRS is a joke that doesn't produce anything near a dick/vagina, ect.

In my opinion, we should be focused on finding ways to treat the mind. We have no way to fundamentally change the brain to the correct sex, just like we have no way to do it to the body, but through therapy, we could conceivably help these individuals accept their birth sex and not feel as though they have the wrong body.

The male brain is primarily shaped through the actions of androgens from testosterone. Testosterone continues to effect the brain for the male's entire life. This happens to female brains too.

So the idea of the body becoming male but the brain staying female wouldn't make any sense unless the fetus was born without balls or had a glitch in their hypothalamus.

This also means that a male brain could not be formed inside of a female body unless that body had some sort of internal testicles or it just produced too much testosterone, because women produce a very small amount of testosterone.

Have you ever noticed how women taking testosterone act more male, and men taking estrogen begin to act more female. That's because of the effects the hormones have on the brain.

If you're going to go the whole brains not matching the body route, then you need to look into hormonal actions from the mother while they were pregnant. Testosterone at certain times during development effects finger growth and it is believed to effect sexual behavior when the kid grows up, but that isn't proven. But this bullshit story that you made up. It doesn't hold water with anyone that has even the most basic understanding of sex hormones and their effects on the brain.
