I used a series of steps in photoshop

the one that helped the most was duplicating the layer, using a high pass filter, then setting that layer to subtract to remove most of the shirt's texture

Nah, you get enough hints even with the darker pics. And there's nothing wrong with enhancing those by drawing on a little - that's the real mastery, showing what should be there in the most realistic position and with the correct lighting, etc. If you only x-ray the stuff that has all the data available, you're living the boring life. With those easy pics you can usually already see the nipple or whatever quite clearly even without tweaking the levels, there's not much of a point to doing it.

The high pass filter was used to single out the highest frequencies of the image and create a pattern to remove the texture on the clothing. This can be done with levels but it's much quicker to use the filter built to do it with less clicks. Levels is then used as the next step, after the texture has been minimized. Also, curves is a much more effective tool, allowing more precise control over the histogram.

Long story short: you haven't contributed a single x-ray and your advice is shit so stfu

There are tutorials out there to get you started quickly, but the main thing is just to get an understanding of light and contrast levels and their curves and what effect they have on differently exposed materials.

Or, just get "twenty years of Photoshop experience", because that obviously helps you pinpoint what exactly it is that you're doing without being vague about it, at all.

I have given very specific answers, but there is no magic formula for every image. Each image has to be evaluated and adjusted according to its content--which is why experience with the tools is an important part of the process.

Best way to x-ray. Use photoshop and choose an image with a thin and light colored cloth with no bra. Mostly works everytime.
