Best horror movies you've seen

>>739384887
Really liked
It Follows
Don't Breathe
But BEST horror movies? Umm...
Ouija: The Beginning
The Exorcism of Emily Rose
Mothman Prophecies
The Fourth Kind (kinda shitty movie but scares me)
Signs
>>739385237
Hmm...
Don't Breath doesn't even look bad, and it has decent reviews.
This movie gave me nightmares
>>739384887
>>739385237
Fourth Kind was 2 spooky 4 me
I just turn on the news
Can anyone think of the name of a lesser known but recent (in the last 5 or so years) alien abduction movie where nothing really happens until the end where there's a broken flashing bedroom light and in the strobes you see the aliens come and take the kid or something?
>>739385735
nm i found it finally: Dark Skies
None of these are even scary. Horror movies now are either just mystery movies with extra death or it's a gore fest with no real elements of fear.
>>739385947
Or some teenage drama with a string of jump scares and a 'twist' ending that surprises no one ever.
>>739385947
that's why i made these threads, horror movies rarely scare me anymore
especially when i'm watching them with friends
>>739384887

The Exorcist - hands down.
>>739386184
kek
>>739386259
the "scariest" scenes from that movie are more funny than anything, such an overrated movie
The Augut Underground series was pretty good.
>>739385735
Is this the movie where the detective is investigating the female psychiatrist, and then at the end the kid is transported through the roof of the house?
>>739385559
>>739385237
Might download The Fourth Kind then. Thanks, Anon.
>>739386664
You are thinking of the fourth kind, not sure if thats what the other poster was thinking of
>>739386664
don't remember that but it was Dark Skies that I was trying to describe
The best I have seen recently:
The Babadook
The Autopsy of Jane Doe (HIGHLY recommended)
10 Cloverfield Lane
Also shout out to Hammer Horror, fucking love those films.
haven't seen any good horror movies
out of the stuff i've seen, Lights Out was good and Cabin in the Woods is silly but okay.
>>739384887
>The Conjuring
>Family moves in a new creepy house
>Dog growling at the door
>Strange noises the first night
etc etc etc.
Always the same shit, no originality, boring AF.
13 ghost
>>739386283
Seen the .gif from this movie so many times, but never sat down and actually watched it.
The Ring (2002)
scared the shit out of me when i was young, still one of the only horror movies that makes me feel uneasy
>>739387167
I tell people its an experience but nothing to write home about...
martyrs
Some of the Korean horror movies are with watching. American movies just rehash the same concepts and scenes over and over.
Rosemary's Baby.
Even if it is old, it is still one of the best horror movies out there.
Jump scares don't count towards horror.
BOOO!
I'm a horror movie fan and I've seen a lot of them. The scariest ones in my opinion is:
The conjuring
The conjuring 2
Lights out
Paranormal activity
The haunting
the blair witch is alittle spoopy last i remembered
>>739387813
>the haunting
that was terrible
the first insidious
>>739387813
all faggot shit
>>739385735
Dark skies
lights out
oculus
conjuring 1,2
babadook
don't breathe
get out
the ring
the witch
sinister
Talk about garbage
>summerfag detected
>>739385005
I've always believed that horror movies suck. I think they are pretty boring and poor. Never in my life have I seen one that I liked. I've only seen a few movies in my life, but recently I've wondered, Will there be a good horror movie? I'm a little interested now
What do you think? Which movie has been good for you? Which horror movies are good?
>>739387254
I can see that. Hell, I watched Salò just to say I've seen it.
>>739386869
>Hammer Horro
Whats that? imdb link?
>>739385237
all of these movies are complete trash
your taste in movies is so bad that it triggered me into responding
best bait ive seen all day
>Drag me to hell
Like Army of Darkness, but a little more serious (not much), awesome special effects and it's classic Sam Raimi.
>Hatchet 1 & 2
Ode to 80s practical effects slashers. Awesome kills, fucking Kane Hodder, tons of cameos, nice atmosphere, and awesome effects.
>Green Room
Not really a horror, I guess. Gruesome kills and mutilations, AMAZING acting, neonazi skinhead story that actually comes off realistic, fantastic soundtrack.
>>739390522
Hammer Horror was a British horror studio in the, uh, 60? 70s? They made all those old Dracula, Wolfman, Mummy movies. If it has Peter Cushing and/or Christopher Lee in it, it's probably Hammer Horror.
>>739385825
i hate the kids face
>>739384887
Hands down Martrys. NO jumpscares just purely disturbing all the way through. Fuck the remake though
>>739390923
Oh right on
>>739384887
im not a murderer is pretty good it suprised me
The gate
Always creeped me out
>>739391223
Is that with the kid with serial killer tendencies? That movie surprised me too, was way better than I thought it was gonna be. It's a bit like Odd Thomas, but more horror.
>>739391266
>The gate
Holy shit I forgot about that movie, great flick. Need to watch it again, haven't seen it in probably 20 years
>>739391223
Can't find this one?
Gave me nightmares
>>739391536
He might mean I am not a serial killer.
>>739385735
The x files
>>739391613
Ohh yeah. Good movie
>>739387243
My favorite as a kid. But the last scene is shit. Her make up is shit. Ruins the mystery of the original.
>>739387813
Anon. I'm a horror fan too and I think this is bait. I hope it is.
A clip from my favorite horror movie
Can you guess what it is?
https://videos.files.wordpress.com/ye3jLBhI/18008149_1162264480552611_4218290524764766208_n_dvd.mp4
>>739392162
Or he might just be into supernatural horror. Different strokes for different folks.
>>739384887
Im gonna get so much shit on that but i really liked blair witch projekt
>>739392287
Edgy Motherfucker 4?
>>739387243
Dude, me too. Big time.
>>739392353
Dude, I love that movie. The first one. I love how the director fucked with those actors for a few weeks to drive them insane. And I love how you don't really see exactly what happens so that your imagination can fill in the blanks and make it extra scary, customized for your particular brain.
>>739391098
Unpleasant and good movie
What's the name of that one Korean movie where it's like a documentary on this one nurse who I believe ate a whole bunch of aborted babies? Really wanna watch it again
>>739391098
Yeah, I don't understand why they changed stuff in the remake. The movie lost its power completely. I'm not against remakes at all, but the Martyrs one was just bad...
The Funny Games remake was really good. Then again, it was made by Haneke himself and he apparently intended the original one to be shot in the US with American actors but couldn't pull that off because of the budget.
>>739393428
I've never seen it, but I found this?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Three..._Extremes
If that's it, I'm gonna watch it. Sounds fun. You might like Evil Feed too. About a secret restaurant that serves human flesh. It's an asian comedy horror. A bit quirky, but I really enjoyed it.
three extremes
>>739393428
Dumplings?
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0472458/?ref_=nv_sr_2
I really enjoyed [Rec]. Great atmosphere.
>>739392329
That list is not "horror", that list is "jumpscare"
>>739393428
I know what you're talking about, just watched it a few months back. Flipping through my IMDB ratings list because I can't remember the name
Stand by..
>>739394215
yeah, sequels were shitty tho
Not a horror movie, but a documentary. Crystal Lake Memories. It's a seven or eight hour long documentary (yeah, really) about all the Friday the 13th movies. They start with the first one and spend a good half hour or so per movie. Stuntmen, actors, writers, directors, it's an awesome watch. There's a book too with tons of behind the scenes stories and pictures. Really worth it for any Friday the 13th fan.
If only Kane Hodder was allowed to have done Freddy vs. Jason. Kane's Jason was such a fucking beast.
Ridley scott's alien and the blair witch project are both really good.
>>739393955
>>739394090
I'm afraid I have to say it's neither of these. I feel like the name had ring or one in it but all my searching doesn't give me much
>>739394470
It's not really my kind of thing either, but those are definitely horror movies. Jump scares are getting old though yeah... Have you played Until Dawn? You unlock behind the scenes interviews as you play. One of those literally shows you how they tweaked certain scenes on jump scare alone. Sound a little harder, that kind of stuff. Just write something scary, geez...
>>739392287
cringe
>>739394691
I thought the second was ok, but yeah, 3 and 4 suck the big one.
>>739394665
>>739394774
BOOM, found it! Noroi, The Curse
The devil inside
Good atmosphere and nostalgic 70s feel
>>739395067
Thank you that movie was excellent for me
>>739395169
np, I enjoyed it enough to watch it twice.
>>739395067
I think its Japanese
long time since i saw it tho, remember blair witch feel to it...and that guy with thinfoil suite
>>739390291
I don't get the notoriety of Salo. Personally I thought it was a bit fucking stupid
>>739385947
So what's your best horror movies?
>>739385237
If you liked "It Follows" you should watch "The Banshee Chapter"
Any gore hounds? August Underground, Guinea Pig, Braindead, etc.? Not trying to be edgy or anything. I just like practical effects a lot.
>>739396326
Seen the AU movies and Guinea Pig, but not Braindead. Good stuff?
>>739396326
Braindead, bad taste, the beyond, cannibal holocaust, zombi
>>739396474
Braindead is called Dead Alive in the US, I think. It's a horror comedy, but I don't think there's a movie with more gore, guts and blood than that one. All practical too. It's also hilariously funny. By Peter Jackson, before he made three/four hour snoozefests.
>>739385480
Underrated movie
>>739396583
Hell yeah! That brain refill joke in Bad Taste was funny as heck. Seagull brains? Good enough, in it goes.
>>739396603
Oh okay, I have seen Dead Alive but it's been a long time.
>>739396685
That was hilarious
A serbian film was unpleasant but also darkly humorous
I thought the movie clown was pretty good. Kinda interesting.
Ju-On vs The Ring (no subs and I cant chink) lmao
jokes aside, Conjuring is quite good imo and it lacks most shitty "horror" movie nowaday have: jumpscare
>>739397358
Not big fan of Ju-on but Ringu and dark water by Nakata is good
Get Out was awesome
Recent movies I liked was V/H/S 1 and 2.
Had it cozy, pizza and chips, friends over, many laughs, good saturday night.
Man bites dog
Belgian mockumentary about a serial killer
Insanely funny
>>739397587
I'm not talking about Ju-On or Ringu, there's literally movie called Sadako (The Ring) vs Kanako (Ju-On) but there's no sub to it
That aside, movie from Thai, iirc, The Eyes 10 is quite good
>>739397769
How footage shot with Google Glass like tech ended up on a VHS tape though...
way looong back I used to be really into the horror genre, and so I came to a name... "Mario Vaba" or some of the sort...
anyways, dude's Italian and he has made some good (And I fucking mean really good) material.
Perhaps you guys would love to see the short film "I tres volti della paura" (those are 3 stories about differents themes)
Watch the one that's called "The Waterdrop" or some shit like that... (French, Spanish, English fag here but I don't speak mamma mÃa)
That's my really number 1 favourite horror movie.
Check it out, I totally recommend it.
a little bit of info in Spanish... https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Sabbath_(pel%C3%ADcula)#.C2.ABLa_Gota_de_Agua.C2.BB
>>739397908
The ease with which he kills people while explaining and giving tips about murdering people. Haha, yeah that movie is too funny.
>>739388946
>get out
"White people is crazy" the movie
>>739397909
Haha not gonna see that sadako movie in nearest future
>>739398079
Summer 2016 also have Corpse Party live action movie. Not really my taste but it was well made
>>739392353
Loved that movie too!
House of the Devil is fucking god tier
>>739392353
Saw it in the theater the weekend it came out. I went in knowing it was fake by the people I went with had no idea. Probably my movie movie theater experience ever.
>>739384887
Also liked Attack the Block and Drag me to Hell.
I can't believe no one has mentioned The Shining...
>>739398422
*favorite movie experience

Best part was having sex while dead rapist uncle was watching.
Also never forget vampire chick ripping off dick.
>>739391098

>>739399402
>Best part was having sex while dead rapist uncle was watching

the grifter 10/10
Splinter wasn't bad.
>>739399817
So. Bad. So. Unbelievably. Bad.
>>739398466
Attack the Block was pretty good. More monster/alien invasion movie than horror, though.
>>739396663
add a little bit good humor to a horror movie and it's awesome.
way better than the basic stories with a group of teens who are almost literally retarded
>>739384887
>The Conjuring
Are you 12?
>>739384887
ITT: Shit tier movies.
Actually decent shit:
Martyrs
Funny Games U.S.
