So the game had to take a few liberties to make a viable game, but it definitely kept true to the book in spirit.

The the world in the book pulls you right in. Every station Artyom visits is like a different world. And the differences between the VDNKH, Hanza, Reds, the Reich, the Arbat and independent stations are all amplified.

I fucking love the show. Not just because it's the "cool" thing to watch right now, it's a genuinely interesting mixture of Tolkein-inspired fantasy and real, raw everyday emotions and dilemmas. The world and its lore is also massive, even more-so if you read the books.

It's the kind of fantasy show that actually does the genre some justice. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone, as long as they're not afraid to see a titty every now and then.
