The US was ideologically more inclined to support a nazi reich and an enemy that Hitler could not really afford to have. It is true that it was the soviets that broke Hitler's back but had Hitler somehow persevered then the US would eventually have been a natural ally in a post WW2 world war against the soviets.

It is argued that the signing of the molotov-ribbentrop pact would have alienated the US from ever trusting germany again but I am not so sure to be honest. I believe that had Hitler not listened to Göring and just allowed the wehrmacht to destroy the BEF, signed a peacetreaty with the brittish, subjugated the french and then turned around to face the soviets as was the planned, the US would have supported Nazi germany against the USSR.
