Rich people can like other rich and more successful people. Trump is almost neither of those two things. He's always been VERY insecure about people finding out about his net worth (one organization that hosted a Q & A with Trump years ago disclosed that Trump only forbade one topic from the conference: any and all questions relating to his actual wealth or gross revenues) and would probably be out on the streets if it weren't for his accountants and lawyers exploiting every bankruptcy loophole in the books. As for his successes, all he has at this point is his brand, and even that hasn't been enough to prevent some catastrophic losses on his investments (Trump University, Trump Steaks, Trump Magazine, Trump wine, Trump casinos).

It's seriously fucked up and the GOP should be pressuring him to go.

I think that if you're white you've got to accept the fact that when you become a minority there is likelyl to be a violent purging attempt made against you. This is already happening in places like South Africa.

And if you're not white, you've got to accept that black and brown people don't always know how to run a decent society. That's why you flee to the white man's countries.

So it's time to accept the fact that it's best for everyone when the white man is in charge. White people, start humping and don't let yourselves become a minority. Non whites, please try to appreciate what you've got. You know it would be a lot worse living exclusively under your own kind.

>>737485436
Okay, I despise Trump and his entire fucking party with a passion and I have some doubts about exactly how extensively Russia's involvement runs in the Trump administration BUT:

1) Literally every week some high-level member of Team Trump gets discovered covering up some shady meeting they had with Russian officials or lets something slip indicating the administration's unusual level of closeness with Moscow.

2) Meddling in other countries' affairs is not a new thing with Russia. Ask literally every European government east of France: the Czech Republic uncovered a massive Russian propaganda/media espionage ring as recently as a few years ago. Putin comes from a faction of Russian politics that still feels a deep sense of humiliation over the crumbling of the Soviet Union and he actively works to re-instate Moscow's sphere of influence in eastern Europe. So it's not like there isn't a precedent for the recent reports of Russian meddling in US affairs.

That is literally exactly how it works and why so many people are pissed off. The system isn't even erring on the side of rationality since its failsafes got Bush 2.0 and Trump elected. And yes, the Electoral College system worked "as intended" in the sense that the disproportionate voting power allotted to the aforementioned fuckwad states got Trump elected, but it's okay to be mad at systemic injustices and demand they be corrected, especially since the majority of the country disagrees with the outcome.

It was intended to give the lower population states a slight edge. It worked. Otherwise you could campaign in a few population centers and never worry about the vast majority of the country. And your theory is off on one very important fact. The game was for the Electoral College, and not the popular vote. If it had been for the popular vote Trump would have campaigned differently. You're just butthurt because your bitch lost.

The only income bracket that Trump won at all was the 50k-99k income bracket, in which he had a 2% lead over clinton. He lost all other income demos.

He was elected primarily by old, white, uneducated former-middle class people, who happen to be the largest block of voters in the country, and reliably vote for the republican candidate regardless of almost any exigent circumstances.

Red states have disproportionate votes? You know illegal aliens count towards the population for the electoral college. This isn't some voter fraud conspiracy, the amount of representatives is bases on residents of a state as determines by the census, not citizens. There are about 15 electoral votes nationwide that are based solely on non citizen residents, and where do you think those are?

The point of that people generally follow news which is biased in favor of things with which they agree. More people are favoring non-conservative sources. The writing on the wall is pretty clear. All politics has pendulum swings. The impulse against hillary and the democrats after 8 years of Obama helped to get Trump elected. Unfortunately, he's disgusting people so frequently that the he's giving a massive impulse to the pendulum swing in the other direction. Pick one.

Russia has been hardline anti-American and anti-EU in its rhetoric since at least 2007, the difference being that Russia used its considerable foreign policy resources to counter the US and its allies directly (i.e. the establishment of an "alternative EU" vis-a-vis a customs union with former Soviet satellites and saber-rattling in the face of nuclear defense systems in Turkey) and by proxy (i.e. funneling arms to Syria through Iranian shipping companies).

They can, but one of the problems in the world is people have different values. People on the right in the US generally want to be left alone to make their own lives. People on the left want a big nanny state that take redistributes wealth and tries to give people equality of results instead of opportunity. That doesn't work because eventually you run out of other people's money. The left has a huge problem with assuming anyone who disagrees with them is stupid or evil. Most of us just start at a different point and have different goals.

No, I'm saying that voting in a democracy or even a democratic republic should work like this: 1 person: 1 vote. Under the current system, a resident of Wyoming has nearly 3 times the voting power as myself, a resident of Illinois. Why should the people of Wyoming have that much more influence over political affairs simply by where they live? If the majority of people in this country believe, for example, that gay marriage should be legal across all 50 states, why should some asshats from the midwest get to stand in the way of the majority? Why do they need to be coddled? My whole argument isn't based on some sense of superiority just because of my political beliefs, it's based on some pretty simple math. If anything, the influence of the left is diluted by the current system.

In this case, there is a bit more meat on the bones. Trump also stated ON TV he fired Comey because he was continuing with the Russia investigation. If that isn't obstruction I don't know what is.

Hey as long as we have us some real Trump supporters here. Can someone explain to me why the first thing Trump did, when he won the RNCC, was to change the GOP platform to PREVENT sending military aid to Ukraine?

I could have named others: Kushner's contemplating the necessity of a behind-the-scenes communication channel with Moscow, for example. Or Carter Page repeatedly denying any wrongdoing before finally admitting that he MAY have acted as a liaison between Trump's campaign team and Russian officials.

Like, why are all these people being so shady about their shit? We already knew Flynn was compromised, but since then Trump's admin has become LESS transparent in the face of investigation.

Oh, I get it. You think that just because ideas are old or once made sense they are still useful. Even though the whole concept of the Electoral College originated in the Virginia Plan and was designed to benefit the rich, white, land-owning farmers who were part of the Constitutional Convention by giving them a disproportionate share of political power despite living in less densely-populated areas so they could maintain their political influence far from where any actual law-making took place.

And why exactly didn't we get pissed when Obama won both times? Hmmm, let's think real hard about why his victories were different...

Oh yeah, he actually WON THE POPULAR VOTE BOTH TIMES in addition to the E.C. His victory represented the will of the majority, the way a modern democracy should work.

Like, are you trying to be this ignorant of history?

I never said they overwhelm any candidate in any election, but they are an ultra-reliable virtually unchangeable voting block that accounts for a consistent 30-40% of the electorate in presidential elections and they nearly always choose the republican candidate.

The total number of votes cast in Obamas first election was higher than that of any election since 1968 as new voters turned out in historic numbers to elect the first black president. Decent voter satisfaction with Obama, as well as low voter turn-out for republicans secured his re-election.

If you require any further help understanding basic concepts of political science feel free to ask again. And as always you can utilize google to find more resources on this topic.

That is a great question. But remember this was the GOP platform he changed... NOT some liberal left wing bullshit.

Why did a man who cannot find Crimea on a map - use his new political capital to give Russia a gift - and block military aid to ukraine?

It is just such a weird thing. And it was the FIRST thing he did!

Look no one wants a war with Russia - but there are some big issues at play.

See, the US and Ukraine had some pretty big fucking oil deals going on, and the Putin goes and invades that area, and basically seizes that drilling area.

So the US says - nuh uh fucker, and cancels the big EXXON / Russia artctic drilling project. So there is some real fucking money and strategic nation shit on the line.

Tied into this is the Syrian issue. And even fracking in the US. Obama's allowing us to keep fracking like fucking crazy has nearly crippled the russian economy.

I like how russian shills spread this whole "hillary will start WWIII" in syria shit. it was incredibly effective -but you'll notice Trump still bombed the shit out of al assad. Wasn't he going to stop doing that stuff? get us out of those wars? Oh wait... he lied again?!!!?!

>>737490926
You misunderstand me. My business works with offshoots of the GOP - I have near daily discussions with a range of people, from east coast elite republicans to , as I put it, dumb fucking yokels. I know the difference, and sadly, it isn't about point of view - it is about a willingness to ignore what is going on around you. It is about media brainwashing, religions brainwashing, and just good old fashioned stupidity.

Most of the people I run into who voted for Trump in the GOP primaries are either stupid, or political opportunists.
>>
>>737491122
I don't support spreading "American capitalism" around the globe, which was half of the cold war and which is still happening, albeit less. But I also don't support Putin trying to build an empire when he has already demonstrated that he is willing to do so by force, as in the Ukraine. So I oppose Russia because I would rather do it now, low intensity, than to wait until he has gotten big enough that he can attack us and our allies openly.

>>737491559

>>
>>737490619
It's funny because Trump is the one recklessly bombing Syria. Probably only a matter of time before some key Russian strategic position is hit.

Also, Russia has been keen to start WW3 since Putin took power. Putin's Russia is one of the most imperialistic projects since... idk, Imperial Russia? Clinton talked tough on Russia in general but she's a much more rational person than Trump and would probably go for the diplomatic option in a potentially hostile situation more readily than Trump (keep in mind that her husband brokered three major international peace agreements during his time in office).

As for what we have to gain from Syria, ask your guy in the White House. I hear he likes to brag about a good airstrike over dessert.

>>
>>737490787

Your partisanship and dishonesty is obvious but for the benefit of observers I'll point it out -

The system is fair when the democratic result (popular vote) and the republic vote (electoral college) coincide with one another. When they don't, that is a failed election. Every time the democratic result has failed in the last century, it has benefited a conservative republican. Presidential Elections in the US as of 2016, have a 7% failure rate.

Democrats did not "Change the system when they had power" because it would require a constitutional amendment, one which will never come about so long as conservatives understand that their only real ability to have relevance politically is to use antiquated, anti-democratic provisions of the law to disenfranchise their fellow countrymen.

The reason this is so dishonest is because if it were the other way around, or even just simply fair (one man, one vote), the fly-over conservatives would be howling bloody murder about how they are being trampled by the big-city college boys, when really they would just be losing a fair game politically. They don't want to do this because social conservationism and fiscal conservatism lost out in the marketplace of ideas and continues to do so.

It was in the news fairly regularly that she was ignoring advice from Bill. He is the one with the political touch. She ignored him (and others) at her peril and lost

I don't think Putin worked to get Trump elected. I think Putin fucked w/ Hillary and caused dissent in the US. Putin got what he wanted when Hillary lost and the Democrats are losing their minds over Trump.

I'm not disagreeing with you: Republicans calculated that doubling down on the conservative message of tougher immigration policy (despite record numbers of deportations under Obama), making bullshit voter fraud claims about minorities (despite overwhelming evidence that voter fraud does not occur in large enough instances to make any significant impact on any election), and blaming LGBT people for the moral decay of society (despite most people not giving a shit) would resonate harder with their traditional base in disproportionately powerful states. It came back to bite them in the ass with Trump since anyone who disagreed with his bullshit could be accused of not being conservative enough, and now more centrist Republicans who would be willing to compromise to pass legislation can't speak out against Trump's policies.

This was the wrong move. Yes Russia was involved. Yes they used unmarked troops to secure Crimea. Yes they supplied Russian sympathizers with guns and training. Yes, they took Crimea.

So what?

oil and fresh water are two of the most valuable resources out there - this isn't about oil Barrons. This is about national strategic and economic resources. Two years. Two years, with only one of them being an actual election year early on in the Obama presidency, to change a longstanding political institution backed by a significant faction of the legislative body. Okay.

Again, if the will of the majority is honored by the political sphere, as it was during the Obama presidency, then the EC issue is understandably less of a priority on the policy agenda. But why is it that EVERY time this happens, it privileges a conservative idiot rather than the Democratic candidate supported by the majority?

Ukraine is a US ally. Russia invaded them, and seized the Crimea. Russia ( and guess who Paul Manafort!!! ) propped up a pro-russian government in the Ukraine. Paul Manafort ran the an election in the US and got Trump elected here, while at the same time Russian intelligence hacked his opposition's email, releasing crippling information at strategic times ( day after DNCC ). They spread anti-hillary propaganda, used botnets to create and spread that propaganda, just like they did in Ukraine election.

To allow Donald Trump to remain as president is a crime. He is a traitor, and he , Manafort, Page, Flynn should be convicted of treason and strung up.

Trump was a protest vote for a lot of people who didn't like the direction we were being forced. People who were lied to when they were told they could keep their insurance, their doctor, and would save $2500/year on their insurance. People who have "health insurance" they can't afford to use because of Obamacare.

(1) Oil, a dying industry. Renewables are coming. In many ways, are here already. Oil above 100 a barrel again? we'd need (1) oil embargo on one of the biggest suppliers to reduce supply; (2) massive demand for oil, like in a major war; and (3) invading a major oil producer to further reduce supply.

Iran, US ARMY, Iraq - the Bush wars were for oil revenues.

(2) Freshwater, that's CANADA.

I don't know about all Democrats, but I would certainly take issue with it provided the Republican candidate wasn't an insane racist tyrant who brought out the absolute worst in American politics. But the trend is for conservative candidates to win through the EC, and the country is demonstrably growing more, not less, liberal, as evidenced by the sheer volume of pro-Clinton voters under 35 in the most recent election, so the situation is moot.

I agree with much of what you are saying. The left, and hillary in particular NEVER dealt with this problem. It was lie. Straight up. I think they knew it up front too.

They refused to take ownership for the fact that the ACA was NOT working the last two years, and worse - I don't think they had any plan to deal with it.

What blows my mind ( still ) is that the pro-union ( reagan democrat average joe guy ) voted for Trump. I get it in retrospect - they seem to have believed that he would get them jobs, and help them out.

>(1) Oil, a dying industry.

Fossil fuels are so fucking important you cannot believe it. Renewables won't power energy stations, won't move fleets of trucks, won't make plastics, won't keep tractors running. and CHEAP! oil is insanely cheap for what it does for us. Yes renewables ( well sort of.. renewable-ish ) are coming down the pipe. We are working to use solar / wind / etc. But nothing provides cheap fuel like oil. The world economy runs on oil - you think that shit is going to change tomorrow? There is a reason we are fucking creating small earthquakes to release hidden fossil fuels in the US. poisoning drinking water ( and fuckiing with crops ).

It is impossible for us to completely stop using petroleum, so when the prices begin to skyrocket again - you will see just how important of a strategic asset it is.

i think conservatives just have a different solution strategy to existing on a planet with finite resources.

liberals think everybody should get a relatively equal share meaning the least deserving get more, and the more deserving get less. nobody's special because everybody is special. do too good and get punished for it.

conservatives, on the other hand, value only the already-successful and perceive poor people in two ways, do-nothings who should be done away with, or if the person's getting educated, theyre a potential threat to conservative peers and should also be done away with.

tldr: liberals = anti-greed
conservatives = anti-poor

I think that conservatives believe that the poor could do well if they wanted. Inside they might agree that the poor shoiuldn't be educated, but I don't know any ( aside from insane christianfags / mormons / nazis ) who think the poor shouldn't be educated.

VERY few conservatives truly embrace the view the that it is ok to crush and destroy others - they mostly hide that from themselves. Frankly I admire the ones who understand that capitalism is ugly and unfair, but say "fuck it". At least they are honest about who they are.

>>
>>737497361
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
>>

The first part of a) really doesn't matter. So what if Russia meddled? It's what they do. I don't see where they had any real effect other than maybe hacking Hillary's server with 4 or 5 other countries. Anything that happened there was her own fault, and if she wasn't a Clinton she would go down for hundreds of felonies.

As for b) you're never going to accept that they have nothing to hide. You see what you want to see. This means you are never moving on from Russia. Trump is living in your head rent free.
>>
>>737497550
I know I'm looking forward to it.

>>737497624
no you aren't. if you are center left, and think the russia stuff is all made up, you are fucking idiot.

Trump LITERALLY SAID he fired comey for continuing the investigation. he said it on TV. How do you think obstruction is fake? fucking lol.

>>737497480

>>
>>737497820
thats how I can tell you are a liar, and not "center left" fucking shill lol
>>
>>737497587
How are we pushing this to violence? It's the left getting violent when people on the right try to demonstrate. The difference so far has been people have stood up to them. In Berkley it was the left throwing bottles and explosives.

>>737497587
There GOP is beating the shit out of you. The dnc is in s civil war and the GOP will gain more senate seats in 2018.

I may hate trump, but nothing tops my enduring hate for hillary rodham clinton and each senior DNC member in power for the 2016 election season.

I'm glad he won. I'm glad the media got clowned.

I'm glad both shady right wing news outlets peddling bad news, and mouthpieces for the democratic agenda in the media blatantly outed themselves. I'm glad the break in trust with the government that started with Watergate has reached a terminal breaking point, and I'm just generally preferring the current state of affairs.

I agree with nothing trump does, but I want the democrats to fucking perish, because they're the main thing standing between the right wing and a proper left wing response. If their death is accellerated, the rise of a proper left wing party becomes more likely. I love u bernie but I think it's time for the bad cop to ur good cop honey.
>>
>>737497585
I know you're 18 and just getting into this but let me clue you in. Nothing is going to happen. Weed is the last goddamn thing on Trumps mind.

Just smoke your fucking bowls and chill out. For the love of God promise me you don't say stupid shit like that in public because people will make fun of you cheech.

I have healthcare, I always have had it. My parents have Tricare for life

I honestly don't think there's a whole lot to the Russian thing, I think most liberals think the administration is acting shady as all fuck about it and watching them crash and burn on their own hubris is some great karmic justice.

Like, all Trump had to do was listen to Yates and Obama about Flynn. Could have just said "You know, he was someone we were considering for a position in the new admin given his experience but we've decided to go with someone else." But no. In true Trump fashion, rather than swallow his pride, Trump doubled down on Flynn's qualifications and that made the subsequent investigation and firing that much worse for the president's public image.

>oh woe is me no one has ever been more attacked than me for things that could have easily been avoided

Fucking snowflake.

1. It was never decriminalized at a federal level. How do you recriminalize something?

2. If he was going to do it, it would already happened.

You mother fuckers and your weed.

>most expensive, invasive mass-deportation policy ever seen
If that's what you call having ICE agents start doing their actual job again, then sure.

>spend tens of billions of taxpayer dollars and government resources on a wall that maybe but probably not some other country will pay for
Most estimates place the cost of the wall at around 12-15 billion, less than we already spend on gibs for immigrants themselves, not to mention all the other dumb shit we waste money on. Plus, I'd be willing to spend three times that for something that will cause that much left wing butthurt.

>begin re-criminalizing marijuana
First I've heard of it, but it should be re-criminalized, fuck stoners.
>destabilizing effect the War on Drugs has had on inner cities and across the US-Mexico border
Shitskins killing each other over retarded gang shit, who cares? If they're Mexican just deport them, if they're black shoot them or incarcerate them, no big deal. Drug dealers are sub-human scum.

>carpet bomb Syria despite the blowback effects similar military campaigns have had in the past
He has literally not said one word about carpet-bombing Syria or anywhere else since 2015.

>etc
In other words, you've reached the end of what you know about his policies. Try getting your news from somewhere besides Stephen Colbert's Twitter feed.

not a liar, just like seeing you mad

Yes. Exactly that. Keep doing that. It will be a regan sized blowout.

>because it makes you mad for me to think its fake

Shit values.
>>
>>737497672
Yeah, because housing them in federally-funded private prisons costs taxpayers billions each year.

Ah, the Modern American Conservative: proudly protecting the individual from the tyranny of big government by locking him up for smoking weed, all on the taxpayer's dime.
>>
>>737497587
Not a welfare queen, and not in the militia. I'm just a guy who works for a living. The military isn't going to "crush" us because we're not doing anything illegal. But we do have the training and guns if a bunch of criminals decide to attack us.
>>
>>737497894
I'm 26 and I don't think much is going to change, I'm just pointing out the disconnect/hypocrisy between what conservatism is supposed to value vs. what Trump's own administration says. I know you sheeple certainly won't hold your leaders' feet to the fire.
