>15.75 ounces of gold
Fucking NICE dude, but the problem is in a SHTF scenario, you want it to be in smaller quantities and more easily divisible. You also need a lot more silver, still in smaller quantities and more easily divisible. Alcohol is another tradable commodity like precious metals

You also need to consider you skill set, as physical goods can only do so much of the work

>that 1 ounce pamp suisse
gib me dats

>heavy, short katana
>pic related
you're a huge faggot

Longsword beats katana everytime
>>
>>737017243
where's the coffee?
>>
You'll need antibiotics, meds and water, but other than that you're great.
>>
The more guns the better, silver and alcohol are not worth shit. Guns will trade on the top end.
>>
>>737017870
Nah because every bullet you sell will be pointing at you so as to gain the rest of them.
Trading food(especially fish) will become a big deal though.
>>
All you need are a bunch of guns and a map to where the nearest Mormons live.
>>
>>737019748
Coming from the Moldova, I can assure you that when no one has any money alcohol is worth a lot. But guns are as well. IDK anyone who wants shit tier silver.
>>
Kratom would be best to have to relieve pain and stop diarrhea. It also is an appetite suppressant so it will help keep your inventory last longer.

>silver aint worth shit

Even though its one of the most commonly used industrial products, second ONLY to crude oil

Are you gunna buy a pound of flour with a fucking rifle, or a whole ounce of gold? No, you're going to offer something of equal value, like a pint of cheap vodka or an ounce or two of silver

idiot
>>
>>737017243
Dude, having more guns won't help you survuve. Having more ammo will
>>
Lol. Ameritards thinks that any gun would have bullets 1 month into the collapse.
Just think of the logistics any army faces in a conventional conflict... There is a reason why the vast majority of any army ever was made up of non-combatants, you know?

Lol, enjoy being pinned with cheap wooden arrows the instant your gun jams and you have no spare parts or run out of bullets or gunpowder. Just lol.
>>
>>737020133
you trade one gun for 80 bottles of finest rum
you drink 2 bottles of rum
then you trade the remaining 75 bottles of rum for food
then you kill the guy stealing the remaining 3 bottles of rum with the rest of the guns

>guns are vastly superior storage of value

>>
>>737019779
Don't be stupid, dude. You talk about trading ammo like it's a trap, when literally any negotiation for any goods can go wrong.

You want to trade for food (fish?). What's stopping anyone at any point, in any transaction from just getting the jump on you and taking everything? come on, m8, get real. You need basic precautions to trade anything. It doesn't matter if it's food, weapons, or medicine.

If anything, food and water are going to be the most dangerous and sought after items, because they are a basic need of every living thing.
>>
>>737017990

You're overlooking vices. People aren't going to stop wanting to drink, smoke and look at porn.

Plus I feel as though people too often imagine the post-apocalypse as meaning a bunch of lone wolves roaming around trying to survive, when in reality people are pretty social creatures and there would be militias and defended settlements established in weeks, likely murdering any armed lone wolves they encounter to deter banditry. Guns and ammo are great, but without compatriots you'd likely be killed and looted relatively quickly.
>>
>>737017243
If you have another room that same size full of food and drinking water, then you're doing great, anon.
>>
>>737021975

Guns would be worthless as a commodity in the post-apocalypse. With 270+ million privately owned guns in the USA and more than a third of households possessing at least one, the saturation of guns in the US makes them worthless - especially if 50+ percent of the population is dead. A magazine of 5.56 would be more valuable than the rifle using it.
>>
>>737024364
To quote Sun Tsu: soldiers fights with swords. Armies fight with rice.

Enjoy your gun, I just barricade in my house with food and water while you starve outside.
>>
>>737022433
And who's gonna create you precious ammos when industry is gone to shit? Your spare parts?

Guns with industry are useless, in any major conflict logistics and supply are more important than soldiers
>>
>>737026987
Billions of rounds of ammo are stored in the USA privately
>>
>>737027201
Ok. Lets say 10 billions? I'm guessing
Divided by 300+ millions of guns, it's not that much.
Much of any war efforts is keeping your army going.
Total collapse=no logistics
No logistics = no ammos
No ammos = no guns in a matter of months
>>
>>737017243
Where the fuck did you get the money to afford all this shit?
>>
>>737017623
this
>>
>>737027879

Not that guy, but ten billion is very conservative. I recall reading that in 2000, six billion rounds of ammunition were sold and another 4 billion primers to private consumers. This was during an era of relatively low demand for ammunition, so I wouldn't be surprised if that number has doubled or tripled since then.

I'd estimate for every gun in the US, there is 50-150 rounds accompanying it. Without new sales numbers and not knowing how much the average gun owner stores, it's impossible to really know how much is stored. This gives us 15-45 billion rounds.

That all being said, you're right. The US military utilizes around 1.8 billion rounds of small arms ammo a year. That's a few million people sporadically using ammo for training and warfare. Split up 30 billion rounds of ammo among 300+ million people all trying desperately to procure materials to survive and that 30 billion will probably go pretty quick, with the majority probably being used in the first couple years. Afterwards there would probably be some producers of ammo, but it'd likely be no more than a cottage industry with producers making a few million rounds a year across the entire USA.

People who have thousands of rounds of ammo and using it conservatively could last decades before running out, though.
