Its a decent fps game, but for me the awful writing, underused setting and lack of focus on game style drags it down too much.
Its a game that mostly relies on its atmosphere, but if that wont satisfy you, you might not quite lie the clunky combat, linear levels and bad ai. When it works, it works, but when it dosnt it fails miserably.

I think the silent protagonists hurts it more than most games, you meet other npc characters all the time, are often lead by them or go somewhere with them, and always they serve as walking exposition dumps even when it makes no sense and requires a direct communication.
I think comparisons to stalker are on point when it comes to quality of the game rather than the gameplay itself. If you liked that series you will probably enjoy this.

Skyrim was the most immersive TES game honestly. The gameplay was finetuned with it and the world's atmosphere was perfect for it. It was an improvement over Oblivion, and both of them left Morrowind and Daggerfall far behind. Hmm, look, I'm not exactly the best person to do good recommendations for shit, I can't often put into words what I like about things but I'll try, Metro, and especially Last Light have this overwhelming sense of atmosphere that carries the game so immensely well that I honestly never noticed the shit that the other autistic cunts in this thread have been saying, you're so absorbed into this living world that it's hard to nit pick anything, it's also fucking gorgeous, if I had to pick on anything it would be that some of the npcs have a bad case of scary face, but what can you do, I think where this game shines the most is in Ranger mode, cannot stress enough about that, the tension that you feel when you only have one bullet left in your revolver and there's a room full of guys ahead, it reminds me of the same kind of anxiety I had with the last of us, there are also some more tender moments in this game that really hammers home what your protagonist is fighting for which for me at least carried at bit of extra weight when I was playing it, anyway, it's a relatively cheap price for a fucking good and scary time, hope this helps at least a bit

Morrowind had fundamentally broken gameplay. 10.000 hours of shit is still shit. I know it had lots of interesting lore, but it was a painstaking process to go through it. Not because the puzzles were cerebral but because the gameplay just did not work.

On most characters I could never make it past level 1 because of the archer's dilemma. I could perch on a rock to stay clear of danger and pelt a basic fucking oversized crab enemy with weapons, and I'd deplete my entire arsenal and score only 2 or 3 hits which all get "saved."

In Skyrim it's a visceral experience where if you set up an ambush and get that perfect shot to hit your target, it actually registers the hit, and does whatever damage that bow is supposed to do. If you set the ambush in a particular formation, it actually changes how the ensuing attack plays out. Things like this is why Skyrim is a game that sucks you in, that feels like you're stepping into another world, and Morrowind feels like you're trying to use Stephen Hawking's chair in a halfpipe

Ok, listen, this game is incredible, you'll start playing it and you'll feel like it's a random steam greenlight indie game. You can't progress if you can't damage enemies, gain exp or win any battles.
I couldn't even beat mudcrabs. Note that I do like playing archers but that just underscores how whole classes were unplayable.

Here's how it always went:

>Arrive at Seyda Neen, create char
>Head out into the world
>Loot some extra weapons and ammo
>Find mudcrabs to level up this time
>Know theyĺl slaughter me if they get close, get to elevated position
>Start shooting at a mudcrab. Aim carefully like it fucking matters
>After firing 250 arrows point blank into the thing it hasn't suffered ANY damage AT ALL.
>Out of weapons, out of options.
>Reach inevitable point where I have to surrender myself to the mudcrabs or run away

No, I got onto the Morrowind bandwagon then because I loved Daggerfall. And I tried to convince myself it was good, and in some ways it was interesting. But the basic gameplay systems being so broken ruined it for me every time.

It's broken by todays standards, and it is easily patched with community made mods. Back in 2002, this game was heralded as the second coming because it made Bethesda what it is until Skyrim was released. It was amazing then and is still enjoyed today, it's aged a little is all.

I never had any of the problems with fo3 other than the occasional mission glitch where someone would die and the mission wouldn't end. NV had horrible fps drops and I'd get stuck on rocks and enemies would be below the map and stupid shit like that

Not even close. It was roughly the same bug wise. NV was slightly more stable but still had glaring memory leak issues.

Fallout 3 was borderline unplayable on consoles and horrid on pc.

Plus old world blues and lonesome road dlc for NV hands down blows everything about 3 out of the water.
