No, you need a calibrated audiometer and headphones/bone conductor to do this with any degree of accuracy. What the doctor does with the probe is just a rough screening. You should get your thresholds done now so you have something to compare in a few years time. As soon as you think you might be having a hearing loss (an abnormal one especially - not the normal loss we all have over the years) it's good to have your thresholds done. Having a record of hearing tests (every couple years) makes a huge difference in keeping track and identifying problems right away.

Nah, I do essentially marketing materials. It might be for out-of-house stuff like public events, billboards, magazine spreads, etc. It's mostly in-house stuff though, illustrations for programs, logos for teams and projects, etc. I've had my work on the side of the shuttle and I have my graphics (patches and logos) on the ISS right now. It doesn't pay that great, but its a fun job.

I didn't say salvia was the best drug, just that it was not in any way comparable to weed and alcohol. It's definitely risky, uncomfortable, and brief. Personally I still think it's fun, but then again lots of things are fun that I wouldn't really recommend (e.g. butane).
