MMA has been on a steady decline in viewership fir the last few years. Boxing on the other hand had had a resurgence in that same time. Local boxing in cities has had huge upticks in the last 5 years. This fight favors boxing more than MMA. The perception is MMA is the reigning king of fans right now, but they are still way short of boxings numbers. There's no way McGregor can win unless he knocks out Mayweather.

Mayweather is the best defensive boxer of all time, essentially.

McGregor is probably the best fight analyst I've seen. He wins by studying his opponents in depth and tailoring strategies (also by getting them emotional and pissing them off like only the Irish know how).

It's difficult to say who will win because McGregor is pretty much exactly the type of fighter you need against a fighter like Mayweather. It all depends on who cracks first and loses their composure.

Either way, it'll probably be boring as fuck just like the Pacquiao fight.
