>What does/b/ think of this man?

I'm ashamed I was ever a fan. He turned his back on his own career, his own fans, and he pissed all over Sirius/XM.

Fuck Howard Stern. He's a shit fake bastard who sold out and tried to go mainstream with his horse-faced trophy bride.

The only thing I'm looking forward to is the end of Howard Stern.
>>
>>736209198
Entertaining in the 90's but it was really a group effort. Alone, he couldn't cut it. Just not that interesting.

1. How a local show can be nationally syndicated across the country and still top the Arbitron ratings, without saying time and temperature every 15 minutes, not playing songs, and not talking about local events

2. The first to have the number one radio show in New York City and Los Angeles markets at the same time

3. Gaining a peak of 20 million listeners circa 1998 in only 60 markets
>>

like someone already said it was a group effort...personally he doesnt have any "artistic talent". He exploited the weaknesses of others like the wack pack, he exploited & bullied women & minorities and all that was fun. But only a jew could get away with that...he never got any respect for that...yes people were entertained but it was all bottom of te barrel, low brow humor at the expense of others

>it was a group effort
Of course, but someone has to have the natural ability to steer the ship. He controls his own board, remember.

>he doesnt have any "artistic talent"
That's your opinion and difficult to prove.

>He exploited the weaknesses of others
No regular was damaged by their appearances in any way. They loved the air time and the attention.

>he never got any respect for that
Well, how did he manage to have such high-level celebrity guests, including politicians and actors, and have them reveal and do things they wouldn't have done elsewhere? That's respect indeed

>all bottom of te barrel
Again, an opinion that many disagree on.

He was funny back in the day, I used to listen to him on WYSP philly on a cheap ass am/fm walkman when I was 17 and used to do flyers for a pizza place, made the job a lot less boring.

I'm not a blind worshipper who will argue his show is at it's best now, than it ever was. The show has passed it's peak but I am a regular listener.

I practically worship the guy, aware of all his faults, but I've heard his voice more than any other human being's. More than my parents.

Anyone who hates him now, is only because they once loved him.

Are you this fucking stupid? Do you even know who Orson Welles is?

Right, they don't realise the show needed to change otherwise it would have got stuck in a rut. And Howard is always looking at ways to evolve/improve it. And it started in 2012 when he joined America's Got Talent as a judge

He missed his court date for his last arrest and now there is a standing warrant.
>>
The show is great when Jackie and Artie were there. Stern by himself can garner attention but not hold a four-hour show.

I loved the show but hated the man. Not for what he said and his antics but how he treated his employees. He fired all of the E-Crew that gave him a television show. He tried to ruin Stuttering John's Tonight Show gig. He tried to help Artie but after his second suicide attempt he just tossed him aside and never contacted him.

He only credits himself for his success. Never admits to having help from people and the people on his show. I don't think he ever wanted anyone who was on the show to get "too big" for him.

A huge ego maniac. Also just a pussy. Guys that work at Sirius have to wait to go into the hallways when he's walking down cause he's such a coward.

Didn't he even sue Sirius, lost and STILL worked for the company?

Complete sellout. Bought a wife and left his true fans in the dust so he could suck up to rich celebrities.

Classic Howard Stern is beyond anything anyone has ever done on radio. He changed the medium. Now look at every morning show, usually 2 guys and a girl talking. That wasn't done before Stern.

Howard Stern now? Not even remotely living in this time period. Has no clue what YouTube is or anything relevant.

yup

prior to Hampton's Howie he was absolutely great. Unapologetic. Fun. Borderline insane.
Think Gary Apology Tape. Grillo Eviction. Jesus Twins.

>Stern by himself can garner attention but not hold a four-hour show.
He did well enough for himself from 1976 to 1981! By himself his ratings improved. Even at WCCC in Hartford, the competing station took the time to make a press kit and tapes and had them shipped to consultants to get Howard out of the market because he was taking their ratings!

>He fired all of the E-Crew
He didn't fire anyone. He decided not to renew the contract. They had enough time to prepare their next career move.

>He tried to ruin Stuttering John's Tonight Show gig
Howard hardly mentioned John when he moved in February 2004. If not ever? If anything, he was mad at Leno for taking him, not so much John.

>He only credits himself for his success
Ah, come on! He has thanked Robin countless times since they have been together. He thanked them in Private Parts and Miss America, Robin in particular. He knows he needed them to be where he is today.

>Didn't he even sue Sirius, lost and STILL worked for the company?
Howard doesn't back out of a contract. He sticks to his deals. Look at his terrestrial contract in 2004 and 2005 when he begged WXRK to have him out.

>Howard Stern now? Not even remotely living in this time period

Remember, Rush was on daytimes, a time in the radio schedule where hardly anyone was listening. Howard was on in the mornings, known as the "prime time" slot in radio as it was the flagship slot and strong ratings could carry the entire station through the rest of the day.

Rush would never have survived had he aired in mornings.

At first he did, as Jackie leaving in March 2001 left quite the void in the show, and they had the free salary to pay a new person. Also, Howard already had people in mind to potentially take over, like he did with the Win John's Job contest in 2004. He had Richard in his head all along, and must have been relieved when he won!
>>
>>736217404

He still skewers them. He's just more subtle and clever about it. You're bad with subtext, or you're not actually listening to the show. He continues to say that funniest most fuck up shit I've ever heard, he just doesn't yell it into the microphone, he says it calmly and matter of factly so you don't even realize what he actually said until a moment later when it hits you. Fucking classic shit.

I mean he's the only person PUBLICLY and unabashedly talking about how frightening looking caitlyn jenner is.

What on earth does he do differently now?
>>
>>736218513

well yeah, that's why it's funny, he openly talks about his obsession with wealth and fame, admits it the way other people don't. It's incredibly refreshing to hear celebrities talk like this.

He doesn't really suck off any smug assholes. He interviews them, and makes them feel comfortable so they start telling shit about themselves. If you don't understand the specific manipulative psychology he's using then the show is going right over your pretty little head.

If he immediately started attacking celebrities they would close up and not tell him shit. You gotta pay attention to the subtext brother. He's next level.

>Good before Sirius
>Shit after Sirius

Sirius killed all reasons for him to continue competing against other morning shows. This shows with him missing days throughout the week, when he wouldn't have missed a show on radio.

With there being no FCC restrictions, he didn't have to work and be creative, only needed to create another channel and flood it with side shows and repeats of former glory.
>>

>>
>>736219067
Sirius was a breath of fresh air. Listening to Richard and Sal's pranks without the censors was amazing.

Howard and Artie could riff off one another without having to catch themselves when saying "Fuck" or "cunt"

Arguments that get so heated where Fuck fuck fuck is spewed out every 2 seconds wouldn't last two minutes on terrestrial radio.

It was great until Artie left. That was the nail in the coffin. Stern couldn't put anyone else in that chair cause no one could capture that magic.

Thats when the show went straight to shit. Howard changed the landscape, his image (to some degree) and how he ran the show.
>>
>>736219223

>>
>>736219067
>Sirius killed all reasons for him to continue competing against other morning shows.
Not quite, it was Janet Jackson's nip slip during the 2004 SuperBowl half-time show, and the FCC's crackdown on indecency after that, that made him want to switch.

>he wouldn't have missed a show on radio.
Of course not, because the Arbitron ratings system measured per average quarter hour. He needed to be there five days a week to acquire such high ratings! With Sirius, it's all about subscription numbers, whether you listen daily or five minutes.
>>
>>736219293
>It was great until Artie left. That was the nail in the coffin.
Yes, and the true final seal was when Howard joined America's Got Talent, because of the "mainstream-ness" of it all.
>>

I agree with this. AGT was the worst thing to happen to that show.

Less hookers, less porn stars, less stupid jackie jokes, no sybian rides, etc... He's not trying to push an envelope like with terrestrial radio, he's not trying to troll christian groups and the FCC

Clearly doesn't want to do the show anymore and is only there for the paycheck. Buys into the latest psych 101 managerial bullshit to run his business. I imagine he's probably really shitty to work for. People like to blame that woman he hired for the changes, but thats bullshit he hired her to implement the changes he wanted and not seem like the bad guy.

Artie was the last thing grounding howard toward his original audience. He doesn't want it anymore, all he wants is to be the celebrity interviewer and he doesn't care about anything else. I used to listen to the show daily, now I don't even care anymore. Its tough to get invested in a show when its only on 3 days a week and goes on vacation for a full week every time theres any kind of holiday.

Acutally, I think it was a good move. After Artie left in January 2010, the show was in a bit of a rut. Howard is always thinking of improving the show, making it better. So that said, joining AGT was the perfect situation as it brought him back into the mainstream, to people's living rooms, and prime time television. He was appealing to a new audience, including younger people. He won a new legion of fans, which in turn attracted Marci, and in turn, more high level celebrity and musician guests. It was a perfect move by the King!

Yes, that was when he came in to promote his book! Stanhope is legendary, and his respect for Howard is through the roof. His auditions for Jackie's chair were top notch. Highly recommended!

Burr is also incredible. He was also good on Opie and Anthony, especially with his bouts with Patrice O'Neal and Nick Di Paolo.

That's the beauty of the show, with one type of guest coming in then a legendary guest the next. It's how it was in its classic era, too.

Weird, how the entire terrestrial radio industry, particularly in mornings, could not recover after his departure. Surely that's a sign of somebody, not a nobody? When Arbitron did it's first ever ratings of Sirius in 2006 and 2007, Howard 100 and Howard 101 ranked at number one. No surprise there...

The public in fact did want to listen, and many were frustrated when they tried to get a radio but all the shops had sold out, leaving Sirius to punch up production in time before the show started.

Oi vey.. I used to buy his BS that he was only a half jew & a non-religious type. Till after 911, when he started his relentless campaign to attack iraq...even though they had nothing to do with 911...He was like all the other neocon zionists who wanted regime change in iraq, iran & syria because these countries were potential threats to israel. He had regular guests like Debbie Schlussel. She was one of the many jews and their puppets drumming up support for the iraqi invasion after 911. The amount of lies & misinformation this bitch can utter is staggering. Go to YouTube and search for "Howard Stern story" for some interesting stories told. Very entertaining stuff for those who don't like the adult humour segments

20-30 years ago there was nothing like it. Now he's a shadow of what he once was, but I don't blame him for still doing it. Look at it this way: he's basically retired, but they pay him huge coin to come in a few days a week, mailing it in, with old friends he's worked with for decades. Nobody, nobody, has that deal, and nobody has a better life.

Saying his show sucks now is almost beside the point. What the fuck does he even care about having the best show anymore? He doesn't need to. And even so, he is frequently the most interesting person on radio, even with all the above going on.

The only thing that annoys me now is that he's a kissass in interviews. He doesn't even have the balls to gently poke fun at some of the celebrities he interviews. But if it's a celebrity I don't like, I just switch it off.

Many of those people were not pro Israel and many were liberal. Even the Army and CIA expected to find large amounts of WMD.

The decision, it turns out, was disastrously wrong. But don't give yourself too much credit for insight. It's likely you will be incorrect about a major decision one day yourself.

c'mon...no talent hack? I agree that having writers feeding him lines is completely lame. but he's pretty sharp and is certainly capable of doing without them. regardless, he became irrelevant when he went to satellite.

>Stern reflected the Zeitgeist
Thats where you are wrong ...These people create the zeitgeist. The jew controlled media & its puppets (which include pseudo-conservatives like rush limbaugh) have got the american public totally under its spell.
>>
>>736227058
I remember the 9/11 show well. At one point Howard said we need to unleash Israel and he was shouted down by Joey Boots and Robin. The consensus being that we, the US needed to seek revenge

>>
>>736227196
That Zeitgeist was created in one instant in New York and radiated out. I was there, Howard didn't influence shit. National rage!

>>
>>736227905
no I mean racism & sexism ...stern used these in the most extreme fashion...any goyim would have their career terminated...look at Opie & Ant...what Ant did was peanuts compared to sterns racist diatribes against blacks & minorities

Howard was heading down that road as well, that's why he went to satellite. You can't say that Howard wasn't crucified by the media, he was public enemy #1! Howard was smart and escaped in time
>>
>>736226627
He'd be fucked. look what happened to Imus, and that was years ago.
>>
>>736228431
