Currently im trying to fix this turd of a air hockey table. The company that made it are being shit eaters about sending me parts i need. But the worst is this big fucking thing called the big one (a giant claw game). So many big moving parts.

There was this arcade I used to love, it was a two seater dog fighting arcade. Each player would have about 10 secs behind the other. It was around the early 90's. Do you know the name? I can't remember to save my life.

Checked caps and nothing looked like it was leaking or bulging. I recall the boards being in good condition too. I tried booting the master unit and the slave unit separately and not connected by the optical cable to each other but I still got static screens.

Not OP but worked in arcades.

You can flick the coin slot if you have access to the inside, and there might be a free coin button too (coin slots are just complicated buttons electronically speaking).

There's also free play mode but you'll need to restart the machine or have access to the DIMM switches

If you're really determined to get in, a $80 lockpick can pick any type of tubular lock (circle ones, horribly insecure but they're compact) can get you in and get your free gaems

most are setup on a timed payout.
Meaning that no matter how good you line it up, or how close you were to getting the key in the hole, or cutting the string, that unless it was time to pay out it wont work.
Claw machines are limp as fuck unless its time to pay out, then suddenly they can grab and lift that heavy ass prize.

There's still the nostalgia factor for those of us who grew up in the 80s and 90s. My friend has a Double Dragon cabinet in his kitchen. Everytime I drive up to visit him we end up playing it.

Most kids who get the chance to play old arcade games tend to love them too. If you have a vintage, or emulation cabinet around, it's a great way to keep kids out of your hair for a while.

Could be a lot of things. Any external input for the display? Plug something into it to rule the display out of the question.

Check voltages from power board. Check voltages on game board. Go online to find a schematic for the machine if you can. That's the best way to troubleshoot it. They may even have troubleshooting steps.

To all the times i did a job for a friend by fixing their games. The worst yet my favorite job i did was upgrading a marvel vs capcom cabinet. He wanted it overhauled. Took out damn near everything but the screws and nails. Loved smashing the tv tube. I mounted a plasma and installed a half decent pc. He ended up paying me a hundred for it. I figured the distance would be too great.
However, don't discount the appliance repair market. That range is average pay here, but in NY you could probably get double that.

Word of advice. Skip the low end cheap shit. Focus on service companies that sell/service the high end appliances. Especially the boutique non domestic stuff. You get your foot in the door and learn to work on those and you can pretty much name your own price. Not to mention potentially going into business on your own down the line.
