Its a bit different depending where you work, but my personal rules are pretty much equal force or one step above, verbal - hands on - hands on = OC spray, at a distance but with a weapon = OC spray straight up. firearm ( which is rare ) straight to gun.

This is a very good question, regarding the RBT i think .05 is too low, 2 beers at dinner after a long day and you cant drive home is bullshit. 90% of the time i will let anyone off with a warning if they are between .05-.07. above that then yer its getting a bit much to just pass on.

RDT's i feel are hit and miss, yes its good to detect drug drivers, but then again it might be 2 days after a bong and its hardly going to effect their driving. I avoid giving them if possible unless its readily obvious the driver is on somthing

See. Here with some recent court rulings. TASER has moved up for us. Mostly to dumb asses misusing it.

An incident a few years ago where it was used on a homeless guy hopped up on meth and a few other drugs deiced to wrap himself around a poll and would not let go. ended up getting tased and it killed him do to the drugs in his system. About two years later the Circuit Courts ruled that too much force was applied considering he was offering no resistance beyond being passive and not ableing to be moved.

After that it basically came down you have to be in a physical fight to use it now.

From my personal experience there is very little. Every intake they encourage and make it easier for woman to get in. it's really only the most elite special units that tend to be all male, and this is due mostly to the physical requirements of entry.

And really its a case by case thing, but i myself have put in massive over time and fought on behalf of, and won, many cases of a home owner using force to prevent a crime.
The way i see it, the minute you cross into someones else property and intend to commit a crime, all your rights go out the window and if you end up dead in the yard, so be it.

1st 12 weeks at the academy is 45k, 12 weeks - the end of course is 63K, goes up from there. i think the current pays per rank from the bottom are about 63 - 68 - 74 - 80 - 90-100k - 100k-180K
average wage is about 80-90k, once your a sergeant and above it can go well above 100k + extra for any special teams you may be on.
and progress all depends on your yearly reviews and if any positions are open for the next rank up if you apply for it, most sergeants have at least 5-6 years, these are generally the rank of the person running a local police station.

We bust our asses to catch these people, and they are out on bail the next day back on the streets.
I couldnt tell you the amount of times i've caught an offender whos out on bail less than a week after i've locked them up.
I have been kicked out of court many times now for calling out a judge on a bullshit ruling.

For the general stations yes, for the bigger ones or ones where there is a unit based there, highway patrol, sexual crimes, drug squad ect, there will be many and than higher ranks as well.
and it is once you get there, a good majority of people stay around the Leading senior constable rank, which is 1 below sergeant rank.
Theres no real " reason " to go higher unless your going into specific work or want to get more involved. by the time your a LSC you will have enough years experience on general duties to apply for any special unit you like as these require a min amount.
extra teams are things like drug squad, dog squad, detectives, counter terror, critical response units ( lower grade swat ) or SOG - special operations group ( full on swat team ) and theres many more.
