Fine details kill a flag. That's why I had the blanket statement that any seals, coats of arms, or text disqualifies a flag. You can't see those details from half a block away; they just muddy together and make the flag look worse. That's why New Mexico's is so god damn good. It's strikingly well created, the color choice was fantastic.

Louisiana has the right idea. The colors and the shapes are good, they just need to remove all the small details and drop the text/banner. Just a stylized pelican over her nest would be dope.
