I got into the habit talking to furries online back in high school. I've always felt like I could relate to furries more, on some levels at least. Eventually they naturally became my offline social circle too.

It's not really that they're nutcases, but they're generally very dismissive of any conventional standard of success or fulfillment. Everything's just a construct, and OK, but there's something nice about having more than hedonism and nihilism right?

Mostly just saying this cause maybe someone will relate.

On one hand I probably should prioritize my non furry friends, but they don't relate to how deviant I honestly am. Marriage was a necessity with the rise of society in the west to allow the man to be sure that the child he was providing for was his own. This was in a time before DNA tests. I own Feldman's For Philip Guston in its entirety on CD. If I'm not mistaken that wasn't the longest piece Feldman wrote, but it was his most personal piece. Feldman and Guston actually had a huge falling out in 1970 with the Marlboro Gallery show of Guston's new and radical figurative work. Guston painted To M.F. in the late 1970s after growing to regret completely the loss of their friendship. Guston and Feldman never reconciled and it was a major regret for both men until the day they died, Guston in 1980, Feldman in 1987.

Anyway, that's awesome, and yeah, it isn't his longest, I think his second string quartet is longer. The point of that quartet was actually to try to figure out what would even happen to a string quartet when pushed to its structural limits. I'm actually not crazy about his super long pieces (compared to some of his others and given their acclaim), but Feldman's still one of my favorite composers. I love Neither and Triadic Memories, and of course Rothko Chapel. Interesting to hear about their falling out, it rings a bell but I don't know much about it.

I'm the only person who's musical to any extent in my family. My sister can't whistle either, for that matter... my dad has no rhythm or singing ability, but he has great taste imo. Two great contemporary composers: Gubaidulina (not too different from Gorecki, Part or Feldman... less literal minimalism but still austere and minimal) and Enno Poppe (weird and eclectic with microtonality, electric drones, and really everything thrown in... check out Interzone, it's an opera and it's in english too, luckily)

I am not sure what happened. The paint quality is actually really nice, I think it might have been that I recycled that particular canvas and applied a coat of oil paint to reset it. The oil that I used in that particular instance was super meaty while the paint I actually painted with was significantly thinner and dried much faster. Basically I may have inadvertently broken the fat over lean rule, though I am not sure as it has never happened before in the nine years or so I have been painting.
