Aldi isn't terrible. I love right across the street from the warehouse/distribution for the region. There's a store right next to it, so we usually shop there anytime we need something. Aldi is really hit or miss on stuff though.

I think your basics are always fine, milk, eggs, bread are super cheap and the quality is on par with Kroger and others, but a lot of other things have a chance to just be exactly what you pay for... they've got some killer jalapeno cheddar cheetos though.

And they can be sold out of stuff for like weeks on end, and never get any in stock.

Well, after I left I was pretty bitter, hadn't stepped in a kroger in two years so my info is out of date, but from what I remember, place is always filthy as fuck, every department is understaffed by a half, the store management witholds hours that come down from corporate so they can collect on a juicy little bonus at the end of the month, meanwhile you've got 99% of the employees not giving a fuck about their job because they're paid minimum wage, and the other 1% breaking their back trying to slow the decay as much as possible because they actually want to do a proper job.

I remember I used to work in a dairy department by myself, I would come in a day after I was off and they had nobody in the dairy, the milk, egg, and yogurt shelves were all empty, each section being about half a day worth of work, and with all those shelves empty, stained from broken eggs and leaking milk bottles, and the store manager would come up to me and tell me I need to go over and help the produce department get ready because one of their four people didn't show up. So we'd just leave the dairy empty and filthy with nobody working on it while I helped a fully staffed department.

Then the other store manager would show up and give me shit for dairy not being set, so I started coming in at 4am instead of 8, to have everything at least clean and pulled up to the front of the shelf at least before customers start coming in at 6, and they told me that was too early for me to come in because the corporate wanted someone in every department at 3pm.

Fucking nightmare fuel, man. Not to mention the countless turnaround days where I'd go from a night shift straight into morning shift.

What sucks is, I actually got along well with most of the employees there and a lot of customers knew me by name. I didn't mind working hard, I didn't mind being tossed around. I probably would have stayed there for good if it wasn't for this racist as fuck manager called Nash that made it literally impossible to keep working there.

And you know I did try different shit, I talked to the other store managers, but you know how management is, they'll take the side of management before they take the side of the employees.

I called corporate but they just said they'd look into it, even called HR and Union asking for a transfer but all I got was "There are no positions open to transfer you to another store right now."
