Good on you man, I have pretty much the same story. Got into lapidary and jewelry CAD design just because I like making stuff. The majority of "independant jewelers" focus on bench skills and make little booths and set up on corners...so everything is kind of cheap looking. They also don't focus on actual marketing and think that marketing is a business card and an etsy.

I got into fine jewelry and noticed a surprising amount of companies are headed by old dudes who just make things by hand and haven't gotten into cad or 3d. So after years of designing for companies like tiffany, now I just freelance, make nearly equal money and have a hell of a lot of free time. I just partner up with real internet marketers, streamers, ect. Rapid production and high volume on demand yo.

Just gotta find your own way and look out for bad operational practice and be the solution someone needs. It takes attention more than education really. Though it takes the balls to dive in and teach yourself. Nobody else is gonna help you.
