The front page is controlled by FB Fap threads, WWYD threads, and "Dubs and I post nudes/dubs say what I text back". It's bullshit and cancer. This site has turned into a social experiment for a bunch of wannabe edgy teenagers and early 20s faggots. Niggas will text a screenshot of a thread and send it to a chick in retaliation of "hurr hurt not your personal army fag" but don't realize that pre-2014, there were "If you hate them, post their contact info" threads with hundreds of replies everyday. I think the increased popularity of 4chan since the fappening has changed it, and made it less fun. I started visiting 4chan after I saw a news story about a guy who got fired from a fast food place because he posted pictures of him dancing on the lettuce in the back room. They fast food chain looked up the geographic location on the pics, and fired the guy. I thought 'any place where people post dumb stuff that gets them fired is worth checking out.' We used to have threads of students asking for help with assignments due in ten hours, and they could get help with any subject from astronomy to physics to history. (I'm a phd student, I've been in school for a long time now and love to do something productive with my schooling). We used to have threads that started with "Dear Diary, today OP was not a faggot" and then long discussions on whether OP was or was not a faggot. The raids were fun, but at any time there a dozen threads I would find interesting and if anyone felt like raiding another site they could find a dozen others to do a raid.

Because 4chan is a lot more well-known (I don't even blink when it gets mentioned in a movie or tv show now) people don't post dumb stuff that could get them fired. We get in trouble for raids (there is one site that if I mention it in a post, I get a message that the spam filter won't let me post the message). The newfolk contribute in snapchat/instagram/facebook threads, but I lurked for six months before posting and the only OC I posted then I took down because I thought she would trace it back to me.

So the place that begins with red does a lot of stuff better now (cats, memes, porn, etc.). Most of the boards on 4chan are slow, /pol/ is and always will be cancer, /a/ is heavily moderated in ways that don't make sense to me, and /b/ has a lot of fetish porn that I don't find interesting.

I don't blame the newfolk or the mods for the change in 4chan. We used to joke about summerfags, and get more traffic when kids got out of school. Now we get newfolks all the time, it leads to more traffic.

4chan used to be a place where anons discussed other sites, not just for raids. The place without moms was never great but discussed a lot. The site we refer to as You Know was not very well moderated for awhile, and other sites pressured 4chan to change moderating to keep things from getting out of hand. It used to be someone posting questionably legal content on ML or YN would create a thread on 4chan to get views. The same with periscope for a short time period. I'm a fan of enforcing laws and rules on cheese, at one point as an undergrad I was a backup moderator for a yahoo photo sharing group and keeping people from posting Chris Hanson material takes a lot of work. So the changes in moderating keep 4chan from getting sued by other sites or shut down, and the newfolk contribute and keep 4chan running.

That said, we don't get much in the way of interesting threads. I post a spooky thread once a week and post big boob threads 2-3 times a week, and I let them die if they don't get going. Occasionally I check out the pics you shouldn't share threads. But when I try to post threads like spaceship threads or independent horror movies threads, they die and get replaced by roll for nudes and trap threads.

letting moderators move threads to other boards probably wouldn't work, but it's worth considering. the high traffic on /b/ is nice, I post spooky threads here because /x/ almost always sucks. political threads are better on /b/ because /pol/ is mostly a place for people to be offensive. by definition. anything belongs on /b/. but if the pics you shouldn't share and roll for nudes got moved to /s/, it might slightly increase traffic on /s/ and reduce the number of those threads. posting on /b/ feels more edgy, and it's exciting to see a thread get posts within ten minutes. if I post something on /s/, /gif/, or /x/ I check back in a day to see if the thread has any posts.

so a major problem is not enough traffic on other boards because most of the traffic is on /b/. maybe instead of moving threads to other boards 4chan could have an interim board, if there is already a pics you shouldn't share or trap thread on /b/ the second and third of those threads get moved to /can/.

This is the only place that will have US. Stop shitting on it
