I just don't get how, the variables seem odd. Doesn't the refraction change depending on how you hold the wedge, therefore you could call any tree in, border or out depending on your perspective?

It's used for prisming wedges, obviously.

>>
>>734772368
It's math and a little magic

What you are determining is the average size of trees in the stand, and then multiply that number by the factor of that prism. Gives you an estimate of the "basal area", that is, the area of the stump if it were cut at breast height, which can then be estimated as the total volume of the tree and therefore the forest where you stand..

It's a lot of guessing but it works out pretty accurate. You can even just use your thumb if you calculate it's factor.

this is in fact a wedge prism
This angle is usually 3 degrees or less. Refraction at the surfaces causes the prism to deflect light by a fixed angle. When viewing a scene through such a prism, objects will appear to be offset by an amount that varies with their distance from the prism.

For a wedge prism in air, rays of light passing through the prism are deflected by the angle δ, which is approximately given by

\delta \approx (n-1)\alpha \ ,
where n is the index of refraction of the prism material, and α is the angle between the prism's surfaces.

Man it's really tough working for the big guys the food industry is in Decline for sure! I would stick with quality assurance more specifically food safety and foodborne illness. That type of shit is always needed no matter how big or small the company especially with new government regulations.

Are you still work for Kraft Foods and I went to the UK when I was working on Tassimo. I went to way production facility in Banbury. I like you Brits your fun people to hang out with and I like how it's acceptable to go to the bar after work every single night.

I just left Campbell Soup company and I'm working for a non-for-profit in food safety.

No space. It always boils down to space. The shelter can hold around 200-ish animals and it's ALWAYS full. The space we have we try to allocate toward stray dogs/cats that people may have lost. When You (not you literally), surrender your own dog, it's not a stray. This is an animal with an owner that no longer wants it. We don't have room to unwanted pets, so we put them down on the spot.

Puppies/kittens that cant eat on their own are put down because we don't have the staffing to feed them every 4 hours. Our kennel workers are cleaning up after 200 animals and trying to prevent outbreaks of fatal diseases like parvo and we only have 15 officers. Our budget is blown on food, idiotic rescue groups who "DEMAND" a dog be fully vetted before they take it, and the shit that always breaks down.

Pregnant animals are put down for the same reason. That environment just isn't good for newborns. They get sick, disease spreads, and suddenly because we didn't have the heart to put down one pregnant dog, we lose an entire kennel block to parvo, tick fever, sometimes distemper, etc.

Cats are also immediately euthanized unless they have a chip or collar.
