Started out with 40 BTC two years ago, but since diversified into other technically solid cryptocurrencies with a promising future such as Ethereum, Monero, Zcash and Byteball. Still holding 20 BTC though.

Since 2015 my portfolio has grown 10-fold, from $20,000 to $200,000 now. Laughing at all the newfags who think cryptocurrencies are only hype or for criminals.
>>
>>734716371
basically this
>>
Hell yes. Any tips for newcomers?
>>
>>734716619

1. don't invest more than 20% of your savings ("only invest what you can afford to lose")

2. hold for the long term (at least 1-2 years). there will be ups and downs, but those don't matter for long term holders, since total market capitalization of cryptocurrencies will almost certainly continue to go up in the long term (like usual stock market, only at faster rate).

3. Diversify. Don't just only Bitcoins, but also some other coins with potential. In the last 6 months the market share of Bitcoin decreased from 50% to 20%, because investors are now looking at the more feature-rich 2nd generation cryptocurrencies (e.g. Ethereum, Monero, Zcash) instead of 1st generation (e.g. Bitcoin, Litecoin, Dogecoin).

4. Spend some time educating yourself about promising coins before investing in them. It's the least you should do if you want to get rich.
>>
>>734716371
dude I don't fucking invest with microlots or minilots. BTC is not a store of value. banks are going to drop it one day.and that day I will be short on it.
it is too volatile for any sane investor. so why is it so up? thats because some investors who have so much money and control that they are not afraid of volatility, create volatility. we call them banks. and do you think banks are going to buy btc untill infinity?
>>
>>734717480
THIS....
>>
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pump_and_dump
>>
>>734717480

How do you define a store of value? Anything that people attribute a value to will have a value that way. At least Bitcoin has some useful purposes, unlike rare stamps or famous paintings.

Why is volatility a bad thing? It can make you pretty rich unless you panic-sell. And you should only invest in high-risk assets what you can afford to lose anyway.
>>
>>734717480
golly, I guess you just proved that bitcoin is worthless. It will no doubt be gone by tomorrow. $2500 per coin is the highest this hype train will ever go.
>>
>>734717749

only a problem for shitcoins that don't have a future anyway. Also refer to point 4. above (educating yourself about promising coins).
>>
>>734715248
Wumbo
>>
>>734717766
paintings or stamps are not stores of value. don't be fooled by media. for something to be a store of value it must be backed by politics. for example dollars are endorsed by the biggest bully of the planet. another example is the manufacturing cost and NEED for gold. again DIAMONDS are not a store of value because try and sell them lol.

anything ppl attribute value do nnot necessarily have value. for example; would you buy a picasso if you had just enough money? maybe you would but I wouldn't because it has "relative value". now try and make jews invest in relative value lol.

volatility in next post...
>>
>>734716619

>>
>>734718147
I may buy BTC in the future. don't get me wrong. I would never buy now. volatility is scary. because I am not a day trader. day traders live until they are 45.
I also can't afford to lose 0.01% of my money. I am not a gambler. I can't imagine gambling my 20%. I like to put my money where it is safe and profitable. for example russian rubles give 15% and they have been increasing steadily for a long time. I also like gold. I am an austrian anyway. now russia is not a stable economy thats why I don't get their stocks but russians NEED to use rubles. there will always be some demand for rubles. If putin dies and some liberal bank cuck comes into power I would no longer hold rubles.

an investors first aim is to stay in the game for as long as possible. not do or die.

for 5 years now people are saying that it is a bubble and it's about to burst every moment

and every time BTC crash by 50% these people try to finish it and bury it

but BTC comes back much stronger than previously

in short: get BTC now and have a happy rich life in near future (5 years?)

of course, you can buy it next crash but it will be like at... from 3700 $ to 2900 $ in few months

People who have bitcoins think they're so edgy

At this point, it certainly is a gamble. Something like Bitcoin is a new technology, and it might be surpassed by a better cryptocurrency in the future. Somebody could say "hey look, my quantum computer broke bitcoin lol" tomorrow and its value would plummet, it would become worthless overnight. But until that happens, it has value and will certainly be volatile, losing and gaining value voraciously.

The way I see it is this; Bitcoin has proven itself to gain value. In fact, it seems to outdo itself more and more. 2013 was shocked that it was over $50 in value, 2014 was shocked that the price is over $1000, and 2017 is shocked that it's over $2500. In 5 years, Bitcoin could be in the dust or well over $10,000. That's a risk I understand, and a gamble I am willing to make.

But I know that I'd certainly be kicking myself in 10 years if I lost a million dollars in possible value. I'd be more upset at that than if I'd lost my $2500 today. And so far, the road there is looking pretty good. That's why I invest.
>>
Yes.
>>
>>734720523
>They are going to crush it when it is large enough to be worth it.
they won't have to crush it. banks are already use block chains in experiments. One day there will just be an alternative that you can use anywhere - paypal or similar company will own it. btc will stop growing. people will start to slowly cash out. value will keep dropping, etc etc.

>>734720606
yeah or this. I bought one at like $500, just because if it ever hits $10,000 I don't want to be kicking myself. I fully expect a few more crashes though. China will outlaw it, US govt will try and tax it, someone will fork shit successfully - who knows.

Guys. Bitcoin simply can not work on the long run. Why? Because:
>fees for small transactions are simply too high. 1.5$ for current bitcoin price and if it really hits 10k, then it means fee is going to be 8$ already. Simply not useful for a daily usage where you just want to buy a beer with your bitcoins. It can't work. I won't even start with transaction delays which goes up to 2 hours nowadays
>>
>>734721623
not right now, wait till after it crashes. its gonna soon.
>>
It is so profitable. But why doesn't governments, central banks, banks, big corporation, investment firms etc. doesn't have any Bitcoin? While it is making a killing? something is not right?

if banks and government start pumping money into BTC it will skyrocket

BTC is a competitor to banks and its monopoly to print money
they can not press a button and make billions $ out of thin air like they do right now
>>
>>734721896
Don't use it for tiny transactions then???

With a bank, if I wanna move 1K it would cost me 40 dollars and I'd have to wait a few days for processing. I can move that much BTC in a few minutes for $2.50. If I wanna use it for something small like groceries I'll use Bitpay or some similar service.

ethereum will skyrocket as banks are very interested in this because of the potential for it for legit transfers with attaching data to each transaction. ETH is already being used to secure business contracts and such, bitcoin is sky high atm and will continue to climb undoubtedly, however I think ETH has potential for the same margin.

I brought a load of BTC 2 years ago approx £2500 worth, now its worth £90k.

>>
>>734722473
Are you kidding me? I move a million dollars every month and I pay zero dollars to the bank. They are just happy for their profit from 0.0001 interest. Also transfer takes 10 minutes at most in same state.
>>
>>734722473
That's all fine. That's what I'm saying, bitcoin is never going to spread much more than it already is. It's stagnating now, because those with big money already heard of it and using it.

I say wait for the "crash", buy some bitcoin and then start trading altcoins and especially Ethereum, which is way more fair and faster for normal use.

For ppl that haven't got no bitcoin money and just want a tiny little bit of bitcoins there are some faucets that pay of some money. It's mostly shit but if you like gambling its kimda a time killer. I use freebitco.in/? r=1977025 (yes it's a fucking ref link, don't be a bitch about it, delete it if u want but you'll get 5% from my earnings with it).
Faucets are funny but not very useful. I recommend buying some coins from coinbase and experiment with it/ watch them change value. Enjoy.
