Got sent to a juvenile center. Shit was scary, force feeding people, meds making people crazy, very mean and forceful nurses. Had a breakdown. They put me in a padded room and the nurses would laugh at me. Got charged about 3000$ without my knowledge, but my mom got the bill, then kicked me out because of it. Kept my mouth shut after that. Was severely depressed for another 12 years. Eventually got a decent job but still depressed. Decided to seek help again, asked if I ever thought about suicide, said yes, asked how I'd do it, said I'd probably jump off a bridge or something, was forced to be committed, but didn't want to go again so I fought it, and because of that I was labelled some shit and HR found out, I got let go. Hey op I got into a 3 year program and straight into internal med residency after that (usa). I really like the er but thought I could fine my place in IM or some subspeciality. All my shadowing experience was in the er and I really like the hours and their ability to stabilize and do just about anything. Will I get over it? Why IM and are u going to subspecialize? Interviewed well because I was interested and a normal functioning human. On interview day their are so many turbo autists you wouldn't believe. Lots of cockiness as well which is a major turn off. I don't think I did anything specific. Every year in undergrad I did research , participated in a club, and had a stacked academic schedule. Throw in some med school summer enrichment programs and a short summer of shadowing and I got in. I was always busy and my grades were always good, not amazing but good.
