Here's the thing, if I ask a bartender to fix me any drink and he just comes up with a mojito or some shit, I'll pay the bill and fuck the tip. If he asks me what am I in the mood for, what I like, what I don't or whatever, I will tip as I please.

It's not his /job/ to make chit chat and be friendly with me. He could just pour me a glass of whisky and there you go. But if he goes the extra mile and does something more, so will I.

Same goes for pizza delivery. Has anything out of the ordinary happened? No? Then I will pay the bill and only that. Was he extremely polite? Did he do something he doesn't have to do just to make me feel better? Then I will tip. Simple as that.

In Scandinavia you would be paid something like 18-28 dollars/hour, depending on your qualifications. This is for the most basic restaurants.

With a diploma, working in a high end restaurant, you can have far more than that of course.
