What do you mean by 'the best'?
Tor is easily the largest, the fastest, and easiest.
Freenet is growing, i2p probably has the best anonymity.

VPN's, despite what retards in this thread say, do NOT offer anonymity.

Whatever proxy service you run your internet traffic through gets to see everything you are doing

Only way to truly be anonymous is to create/use your own botnet/proxy server

If you dont understand how a vpn works and you cant beleive that they CAN track what you are browsing, you shouldn't be using one.

Sidenote: just because they can doesn't mean they are, but the only way to be 100% sure is to use your own
>>
So VPN's are useless then to be paying for? How to be anonymous then, anon?
>>
>>733814759
The one you manage yourself. Everything else is cancer, honeypot, or generally insecure now.
>>
>>733819221
Yeah, it's basic network knowledge that VPN's do not offer anonymity.

Nobody is going to jail for you.

>>
>>733820413
So VPN's are still very useful. You can use one (NordVPN is a reputable one) to further hide your traffic patterns. You can use TOR after logging into your VPN so your ISP won't know that you're doing.
>>
>>733820797
Well, a great deal of them actually DO keep logs. I don't trust HideMyAss anymore since they lied about it in the past.
>>
>>733820413
The VPN only offers partial anonymity if it is an encrypted connection.
ISPs will not see what you are browsing, only that you are connected to a VPN
Websites on the otherhand will not see your true IP address, only the one at the end of the chain that is connected to them.
The VPN you are using however will see everything you are doing as you are running all traffic through them, this is why you MUST trust the one you are using. Even still, anything that involves money or personal information you will want to do with the VPN disabled as you shouldn't trust any of them with that information.
>>
>>733818595
Your VPN you,and if forced will reveal who you are. Now if you upset or then the VPN is much safer. When I use For it is with TAILS and then the VPN for the clearnet. Also setting up your For relays, or rejecting certain countries is another way to be safer. I exclude the US for one. The countries that spy on people have compromised nodes. Ironicly Russia is one of the better countries to route through, as are a few ME countries.

No, some are literally incapable of monitoring or storing your data because of the volume of users. Many only keep data for 1-3 days before it's lost and unrecoverable

kek, no, they are not. If they want to, they can. Claiming otherwise just means you know nothing about networking in general.

How can you connect directly to somebody and send all of your internet traffic through them and be 100% undetectable to them? I really want to hear his explanation to his logic.

You have heard of NSLs right? It is not something that providers are even aloud to disclose having served to them. It is a secret Federal warrant for all logs, which also must be kept. Do some reading on the Patriot Act sometime, and learn something. Better yet read it, and the NDAA.

There is no logic. He's a troll or a retard or both. Either way he clearly doesn't know what a VPN is, nor does he seem to understand what anonymity is.

Not the poster that's trolling the piss out of you, but I'll explain how they work and why you're only technically correct.

The main function of a VPN is to provide privacy (as you've said), but because of the cost of data collection and storage and local regulations some VPNs provide anonymity as a by-product of giving you privacy. Anyone who attempts to investigate you will need a warrant to get at any data that the VPN has stored. If the VPN does not store data then they need to get a different warrant to spy on your traffic through the VPN.

It literally just takes an email to find out if a particular VPN stores your data and if so, for how long.
>>
>>733824067
>(you)
There you go anon, now run along and play, the big boys are talking about VPNs here :^)
>>
>>733824174
>some VPNs provide anonymity as a by-product
You don't understand what anonymity is.
>>
>>733815658

>>
>>733824174
>It literally just takes an email to find out if a particular VPN admits storing your data and if so, for how long.
FTFY
>>
>>733824326
Are you trying to assert that complete privacy without record isn't anonymity?
>>
>>733824424
>I can't go outside because the globalists figured out the tinfoil hat thing
>>
>>733824450
I'm trying to explain to you that even the possibility of someone keeping a record means there is NO anonymity. Again, you clearly don't understand what anonymity is.
>>
>>733824174
That is basically what I have been saying
The level of anonymity depends on the VPN you are using, some track the shit out of you, some dont. My main point is that if wanted or needed to log your data they can and that it doesn't make you truely anonymous, it just adds another wall
>>
>>733824574
By your definition, there is no anonymity on any device connected to the internet. One of us definitely doesn't understand what anonymity is.
>>
>>733824631
And that's why you're only technically correct

No all VPNs in the US, and ally countries are required to keep logs. Your understanding of anti-terrorism agreements is lacking. VPNs will claim to keep none, but that is not the case, unless you use a VPN based in a non-treaty member state.
The true terrorist are the nations in the compact.
>>
>>733824673
>there is no anonymity on any device connected to the internet
Unless you run your own VPN
The only person who would be able to log your data would be yourself
>>
>>733824673
Oh god, I really hope you're trolling.

On tor any exit node can not keep a record of your real IP, since it DOESN'T KNOW YOUR REAL IP. That is anonymity, is it perfect? No, nothing ever is, but VPNs have nothing to do with anonymity at all, they provide privacy, and privacy only. Don't try to move the goalposts now. Just accept you're wrong and move on.
>>
>>733824846
how do you do that?
>>
>>733824846
Not so, your VPN would be shit and easily hackable (unless, of course, you have a computer farm handy) so you still aren't anonymous by your definition.

All you are doing is shifting who has access to your information from one person to another, how does that make you anonymous?
>>
>>733824885

I hope you're trolling

any american vpn stores log data its required, yet if tgey cluster your ip so that a lot if people are using it, they will not be able to tell what ips accessed the server..

Anyways a bunch of faggots in this thread acting like they are leet. First of all want a good anon ip use a coffee shop but you can and will still get rekt without changing your mac address, you browser cache, your UI, running flash or java, browser fingerprinting is the new way to track you. Also a lot of websites will not allow access to their site without java working for this reason. So you need to be able to enable the use of java without it leaking who you are.

The best anon service is using hacked RDP's fucking noobs.
