People welcomed femanons as long as they didn't think being female got them anything special. If you showed tits, okay, you're telling the truth, thanks for the titties and welcome to /b/. If you didn't deliver, you were mocked for trying to stand out by lying about being a girl on the internet. There wasn't this feminazi sjw whining that goes on now.

#fortune was a thing for a while, which was obnoxious as fuck because it dominated pretty much every thread. It was sort of like the "ONLY QUINTS CAN STOP GIGANIGGER" except way the fuck more annoying and prevalent.

Nobody really *wanted* to be part of /b/. It wasn't somewhere you went because it was cool, or because you wanted to be considered part of anonymous. It was where you went because nobody else would put up with you, or liked the weird shit you did. Remember - project chanology hadn't even started.

Being anonymous wasn't the reward; it was the cost of entry - everywhere else was "build your name" and "establish a reputation" and the like. /b/ required you to check that all at the door.
