It was built by Sachs for a Swedish bicycle company (Crescent) as a long distance, low powered "aid" for young people and the elderly.
The tiny fuel tanks lasts about 2-3 hours depending on how hard you push it.

I can get my hands on a 1965 AJS if I want it. All the parts are there (apparently) it's just not been ridden since the 80s.

I can get the bike for nothing, but I'd need tools, cos they'd be Imperial measurements, and parts for anything to bad to repair.

It's going to be an expensive thing to take on, and I know absolutely nothing about it. But I think about it a lot.

Just because a loud exhaust doesn't make the ride safer on rural/suburban roads without traffic isn't a valid counter argument. If you're riding on the street, you're going to be caught in traffic at some point and it usually pans out better if the drivers know you're there.

Harleys are going a bit downhill these days. If you want to start on a cruiser, get an Indian scout or Scout Sixty.
If you're not bothered about getting an American Cruiser, get something like a Boulevard or a Dragstar.
Got a Dragstar myself, my first cruiser with only 1 year riding experience very easy to ride.
Only upside to Harleys is how open the aftermarket is. Plenty of top brands that make parts exclusivly for them so if you want to make it a custom then go for it.

about 15-20hp and tops at around 70mph.
its really light so its fun to ride, not legal though
