Which is it /b/?
>>733485483
B
>inb4 A autists
>>733485483
dude what the fuck is happening right there i can't even figure it out
A
>>733485662
Yeh what is this shit?
>>733485483
Obviously B
>>733485696
Portalphysics
Angle in = angle out
the cube is motionless and portal doesnt change that
I vote A
>>733485662
>>733485696
It's a portal.
One portal closes down on a still box, and it comes out the other portal.
Would the momentum of the first portal launch the box, or since the box isn't moving would it just plop out?
>>733485786
But the ram rod creates speed
>>733485811
Thanks anon. I think I now understand less if that's possible.
Neither of them. It would remain still, sitting on the initial platform.
>Muh gravity
Get fucked it's a portal
>>733485662
>>733485696
>Being this simple minded
>>733485811
ok then B
>>733485832
that speed instantly becomes 0 once the cube is through
laws of newton clearly states that something has to be spent in order to create kinetic energy. That cube doesn't leave behind shit, or get propelled by anything. It's like putting a little baloon inside a big one and move the big one very fast up and down, it doesn't change the speed or energy of the small one. Thus A.
I thought you can't place portals on a moving platform
Relative to the orange portal, the cube has a velocity v, since the orange portal and blue portals are the same, it would have to have the same velocity with respect to the blue portal when it exits, hence it's B. If u think it's ur a fucking autist
The actual way portals in Portal are programmed is that your current velocity is stored when you collide with the portal and then that stored velocity is pasted onto your character in relation to the new angle that you're teleported to and exiting the second portal.
So if a portal rapidly approached you as you stood still, like in OP's pic, you'd exit the second portal with zero momentum and just "plop" out like exhibit A.
tldr: Speedy thing goes in, speedy thing comes out
>>733485931
don't know man, it doesn't look realistic enough to infer anything about how it should work. it looks like a press more than a portal
B https://youtu.be/wFefATs9qkI
>>733485881
but it is 100% through the portal
>>733485483
Anyone who picks B has never had a physics lesson in their life kek
>>733486040
You don't play games, do you anon?
Clearly A, the cube itself gains no momentum
Just make a map in garry's mod or whatever to setup the scenario
/thread
A
>>733486217
>Implying that's conclusive
Portal itself is a better place to test this.
>>733486217
>/threading your own post
>>733485572
Nice bait anon
Same scenario but less autistic
>train with an orange portal in the front and a blue portal in the back
>train is moving at high speed towards a motionless box
>box plops out the back of the train
physics bruh frame of reference, imagine the moving portal was the reference, hence the still platform would be the moving one. therefore must be B
>>733485832
but not the cube.
The correct answer is A
B. Cube 0 speed. Portal x speed. Cube would fly out somewhere near x/2 speed.
It's clearly A
>>733486008
This
Momentum is relative.
>>733485483
This kills the thread.
>>733485483
No one. With portal can't be moved.
>>733485483
it is B - here is the proof
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=01Q83yxdDaI
(its flying)
speedy thing goes in speedy thing comes out do you even portal?

realized you were talking about portal w/o the final s :^)
Portals are not exists.

remember, the cube coming out of the other side of the portal has momentum therefor B
>>733485483
Neither. It gets smashed in the press and pieces fly everywhere is the real and only answer.
https://youtu.be/Nmo-id22WII
what about in portal 1 when you make the espace and there are big ass pistons moving around. you had to get "crushed" by oene with a portal you didnt even shoot out of it like in B
Its A, gotta be
wait what would happen if the portal stopped halfway
>>733489257
depends. the part out of the other side of the portal would be travelling with momentum and therefore would want to continue that movement, should a sufficient portion of the cubes mass be through the portal and moving at a sufficient speed.
>>733485832
The portal acts as a hole through the ram rod. The ram rod never touches the cube and therefore never exerts any force on it. It's A.
>>733485483
Cube it's static, only the entrance portal it's moving, so there's no inertia by the cube's side.
The answer is A.
>>733487694
You are actually retarded
It would be closer to A, but it would move further than that
>>733485869
It's possible, you're just retarded.
