It's a flag that is rooted with secession, so it shouldn't be on government property. Some people also view it as deeply rooted in racism, and some people are trying to change the flag's meaning. Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, and many others saw huge US armies getting obliterated by much smaller ill equipped CS armies. Eventually the length of the war made it a war of attrition, and the huge disadvantage of equipment and industry outweighed their advantage of superior leadership and that ended the war.
