If you don't like them and think they should change, you should vote in people to change it, you shouldn't punish yourself as some pretend martyr though. A lot of these programs you can have them send you paperwork, you can fill stuff out online, or you can look stuff up and then drive over and fill some shit out.

Yeah, if you get food assistance and you see a major increase in your income, you need to report it. However, due to the size of the population, a fair bit of it is rather hands off, that is it really doesn't effect you negatively and isn't even a minor inconvenience.

Food assistance is through a card now, so no more stamps or other things that bring social stigma in some dumbfuck areas, and in most states you can choose between different free medical programs to best suit your individual needs (for example Caresource versus Medicare D).
