I did 6 after SECF, your same shit but subs. Fuck sonar on surface ships. They are all retarded and cant track someone walking past their space, much less a submarine. Im am not kidding. We could gain track on a DDG way past 100K yards, they could gain us within 10k. Maybe. Sometimes they never did.

Surface ship FC is the most interesting, if you pick a good weapons system. Navigation sucks. Radio was kickass on the sub due to them having tiny division and high attrition. They were pushbutton through E6, at least they were a few years ago. Plus that job translates pretty well to a ton of civvy fields.

Navigation sucks unless you really wanna feel nautical and shit. Charts, plotting courses, knowing rules of the road, all that stuff.

If its anything like the sub fleet, AECF is a moneymaker if you show up on time, qualify fast, and keep your hair cut. I made E6 in 6 and got the fuck out. Never intended to be a career, just a resume builder and free college.

It was fun, but only because I knew i wouldnt be doing it forever. Walking into a sub before a deployment or patrol is checking into prison. Except no yard time and less time to relax.

Qualify everything you can, as fast as you can. You are a retard surface puke so your faggot warfare pin is surface warfare or aviation, and takes like 2 weeks to do. Get it fast. Get as many of those as you can. And qualify watches as fast as you can. The more you qualify the better they get, senior watches are the most cake. Avoid the stupid fucks drinking until 3 am and showing up at 7 every day. Yes tons of people do it, and you can get away with it. But it will fuck your career advancement at some point. Don't be a fucking idiot in foreign ports. Enjoy them and leave the hooker and red light strip and go see the damn country you are in.

Tech rates are about fast advancement, period. Dont fuck it up.

ask your recruiter about it, but i know a number of guys who joined with medical conditions that should have kept them out. they dont get med records from hospitals. you'd have to lie about it and the scar if asked about it at MEPS where they give you a physical exam but i dont remember them asking me if i ever attempted suicide.

Do you avoid some topics like politics when fraternizing and how much does the executive branch's reason for you being deployed matter verses it being your chosen occupation/keeping yourself and your fellow Marines alive, safe ect?

They can't erase them. How bad is the scar. If it doesn't look like it's from surgery I'd just make up a reason why it's there and say it wasn't bad enough to go to the hospital.

As long as you can pass a background check and don't give MEPS a reason to pull your medical records then you should be fine.
