Actually, one thing.

Anyone want to explain to me how Winter and Summer make sense, with shorter days and longer nights and opposing hemispheres always being on opposite sides of that spectrum works, assuming this is true? No, really, I'm honestly interested to hear your explanations. Don't hold back because I'm a non-believer; I'm pretty damn open-minded. Who knows, maybe you'll convert me?

This again? Is this the only damn piece of non-evidence you guys have? didn't even answer my question. Let me ask you again.

If the sun, as pictured above, rotates in relation to the earth, making a full rotation each day and covering the entire planet with its light on each pass, why is it that in any given place in the world, days are longer for one half of the year, and shorter for the other half? (or maybe it's a bit different near the equator; never been down there to tell)
Why is it that daytime lasts half the year in the north pole, and nighttime takes up the other half? why is it that the same principle applies to Antarctica, only in reverse?
Why is it that here, where I live, days go from late morning to 4:30 in the winter, and from 5:00 AM to 9:00 PM in the summer?
Why is all of that possible, and indeed happens consistently every year since before any of us were born, if the world works like what is depicted in this diagram?

Can you answer THAT question? If you do not have a response to that question, you have no business replying to me.

It's basic logic you eedgit, the sun is ridiculously powerful, strong enough to heat a planet and keep it from being a frozen wasteland. There's no way a light that bright wouldn't shine on the whole earth constantly. Plus in order for that diagram to be true, the sun would be visibly overhead at a 90° angle, instead its angle is visible from a slant and has an arc when it rises and fall.

See? Now this is exactly what I was looking for. A short, concise answer, which makes sense, does not insult me for something which I do not claim, (no, I do not claim to know what happened any particular span of time before I was born; I do know that several of the flat-earth defenders are older than me, and therefore can remember themselves that this situation continued before I was born; if this were not the case, I would have been told otherwise dozens of times by now, as I frequently ask questions which would make that relevant) does not insult me for having a difference in ideas, and which is a perfectly logical rebuttal to my proposal. You have my respect.

However, I'm still not convinced; there are entirely too many issues remaining with this theory. I expect to be bombarded with acusations of being a sheep to the government and of being "fucking retarded," but let it be known that I will return no such insults, and I will let you think what you think.

Especially for the anon I'm replying to. You've got a good, sensible head on your shoulders. Use it well.

1If the earth was flat, it wouldnt be technically impossible to live on the outer areas of the earth right? I mean, the earth being a disc would mean the center is where gravity is considered normal for us, but the more we move to the outer parts wouldnt the angle get steeper the more we move out of the center?

2 If the earth is flat what about other planets? are they just as flat? also what about moons? is our moon flat?

3 also considering that out deepest waters are 8 miles deeps how thick is the earth when flat? is it exactly 8 miles or more? how would we calculate the earths thickness then?

4 If someone lived on the north pole, why is it they there is no safety equipment for when they should fall off the earth? how come they can travel from north pole to south pole in any direction without falling off the planet?

The idea that the earth is flat is as dumb as 9/11 conspiracies. Just accept the scientific facts about earth. We have satellites and have been off the planet.

1. No aliens, no other "planets", only stars... And by stars I mean bright objects, not the "star" concept that you might think of, of different sistems, etc.

2. No other planets, moon is still a mistery. It is said that is close to earth, sun is not so close, but still they look the same size on our sky. Every seen a full moon during the day, when the sun is up? That is impossible on a convential model considering that the sun is behind the moon and the side facing us is still bright.

Yeah, primitive people, same that built the piramids (that modern tehnology is unable to replicate, and we still don't know how they were made)

Or take a loot at the Giant walls of Sacsayhuaman

>Zigzagging walls are made of boulders used for the first or lower levels are the biggest; there is one that is 8.5 m high (28 ft.) and weights about 140 metric tons.

>Scientists are not certain how these huge stones were transported and processed to fit so perfectly that no blade of grass or steel can slide between them. There is no mortar. The stones often join in complex and irregular surfaces that would appear to be a nightmare for the stonemason.

I could give you countless examples my friend. We know almost nothing of our TRUE history, they find "aicient" text from 2,000 years ago and they can not read the language and they lead you to belive that they know what flora existed 65,000,000 years ago???

But social studies(sciences) is a non issue.
Of course we don't understand dead languages at first. They were created by men we can't talk to.
Social sciences cannot debunk other areas of science.
They knew of gravity during witch hunts, my friend. Social science is strides behind the "real" shit.
>>
>>732931852
I believe in all the things in the third line.
I also believe that this may be the only plain that can sustain life, earth, and other celestial objects are non-inhabitable.
Scientists that are positive life exists elsewhere in the universe astound me.
I don't care HOW MANY possible worlds there are.
Look at the intricacy of a single cell organism.
Think of the confluence of events that was required to spark life.
It is next to impossible.
Nearly infinity to zero.
I acknowledge that life may exist elsewhere, but personally I believe earth is the anomaly.
>>
>>732931865
Because circumstances change.
Testing methods, tool quality, etc.
Science is constantly evolving.
The whole point of science is that you question it. Always. Not just until you reproduce the results for yourself.

Alright, considering the equator has allegedly ~40k km of length, in a flat earth scenario the radius of the the sun trajectory would be about 10k km. But the sun itself is considered to have *at least* 1.3mi km of diameter. For the flat earth theory to be true, the earth would have to be at least 1000x larger, and it still wouldn't make sense.

Not a flat earther, but I really can't wrap my head around how they figure out the mass of the earth, or the distance from the sun. I understand a bit of trig, but from our position, I can't see how anyone could figure that out.

Before the "big bang" "creation" "wtf ever"
Things were negative? Reversed? Chirals? THEN:
>disorder to order
until it inverses on itself. It reaches that point where it reverses, BOOM
>from order to disorder
It expands like a rubber band, then contracts back on itself, and reverses once again into the other side.
We have a very limited window of observation.
No matter what science says you cannot 100% refute this.
Which is why science can never actually *prove* anything.

Wouldn't you think there would be ONE REAL IMAGE to prove flat earth? Why is it just a bunch of REAL IMAGES that show evidence of a spheroid earth?

Until you provide some evidence the earth is flat (as opposed to denying the current model), you cannot make a logical argument against the spheroid earth.

Entropy is the way of the universe.

It was once a homogeneous ball of plasma and radiation. Now it's formed pockets of nothingness with occasional speckles of matter.

Maybe the earth is flat, but because our eyes are spherical and outer space is outer space astronauts and cameras(that are designed as our eyes i guess) see round earth?

It will die. It's particles will be spread. It will cease to exist because it blew up or decayed or was consumed. Everything will eventually be pulverized back into dust and be broken down to the most basic particles over a long enough time.

If the sun hovers over the earth like that, why does the sun set?
If the earth is flat then the sun would never drop below the horizon.

>>732930864
Oh I see... so how do you explain
G = 6.67408(31)×10−11 m3⋅kg−1⋅s−2
in the following equation:
https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/0/0e/NewtonsLawOfUniversalGravitation.svg/400px-NewtonsLawOfUniversalGravitation.svg.png

I did some calculations when I was younger and though it was very intresting to see that this gravitational pull was indistinguishable to the centrifugal forces pointing outward by planets due to speed, but hey, maybe my calculator was broken
>>
>>732934980
so basically the time before big bang?
>>
I'm curious about the flat earth logic.
So is the sun and moon flat as well?
What about the other planets, are they flat?
If so what makes them face us?
Also, what happens when we watch jupiters storm disappear onto the other flat side of the planet?
please explain these things with physics or math.
>>
>>732934006
all that picture shows is that it's a composite of several different pictures. Depending on the satellite used, it's not possible to take a full picture of earth, instead, a scan is used where the satellite moves ever so slightly in increments to capture the whole planet, then the image is re composited from these. If you want an example, pull out your android phone and make a photosphere, the exact same duplication happens
>>732934192
the idiots saying you can see the curvature of earth from a plane are idiots, earth is far too massive to see any discernible curvature at 40k feet, you need to be a couple miles high to see any curvature, but note too, that often pictures taken from very, very high up (like ISS) often employ fisheye and exaggerate the curvature compared to what the human eye might see, not because they're trying to fool anybody, but because it makes for a better shot.
unaided human vision doesn't see the full earth ball until about 1/2 to 5/8ths the distance between earth and the moon, much farther than iss is, so fish eye is used at distances less than that to show the full earth, or image compositing, including those taken from satellites that don't orbit as far from earth as required
>>
>>732930681
The earth was known to be round since the 3rd century bce and even had the circumference accurately calculated by 240bce even so the roundness of the earth was speculated long before that. Earliest records say before the 6th century bce.

So if the earth was flat, would that make a plane from Australia to Brazil still travel 15k km? or over 40k km?
Why would they not fly over the US and CAD if it was the shortest way?
>>
>Its another tunesian science thread.
>>
>>732930864
So you say density is proven?

rho [kg/m3] is proven and you say light objects go up and heavy go down... lets assume we have objects with the same volume in water. The heavy object would be assumed to have twice the density of water, 2000kg/m3 and thus a higher mass than the same volume of water. then it would be PULLED down with the following equation:

F= (rho_obj - rho_h2o) * V_obj *g

where g is the local gravitational field at the surface of the earth. Think we just solved an empirical model that works for most free falls on earth, where drag forces etc are neglectable. there are very simple models for this too: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drag_(physics)

you have that backwards. Conservatists believe that the earth is round.
here is a definition:
"commitment to traditional values and ideas with opposition to change or innovation."
The earth being round is well established and has been shown to be believed throughout history especially recently in terms of hundreds of years.
Therefore, you my friend, are a liberal.
here is a definition for that.
"open to new behavior or opinions and willing to discard traditional values."
Flat Earth theory is relatively new except for in ancient times. The resurgence of it thus makes it non traditional and thus makes you a liberal.

TLDR:
Fucking flat earthers don't even realize they are liberal...
