Here's what the rest of the walk looks like, the gaps are pretty small.

There's a chance some of the rocks were turned over, but it's unlikely. A few of them have gravel on the other side, and there wasn't gravel in the area where they were piled up, only in the spots where they used to be.

looking at the 2 pictures you posted there are several ways to fit them while still having a natural look.
in fact it wont look too good if it is aligned too good. The beauty of natural stones is that every piece is different and you wont have a monotonous path.

A and D look like they fit together and the middle one looks like it fits with the one under your right foot if you flit it over

Take a picture from above as good as you can, directly down (or use the ones you have) directly down is most accurate, if you had a tall ladder for example... camera level.

Now you have a plan view.

Print out 2 pages with the image

Cut exactly around the perimeter of the stones that need to be placed

Now you can experiment with various configurations using the paper to adjust them just right.

Also see if you can find an old pic of your driveway, may even be on google maps street view.
