So I´m here cause I got a question about gaming performances.

The stories and information posted here are artistic works of fiction and falsehood.

So I´m here cause I got a question about gaming performances.
I have a pretty decent computer, about 800-900 selfbuilt. But I want to upgrade it cause I've been having problems with bigger games.
For example, I play Playerunknowns battleground with cc. 20fps while I play league of legends (yeah, I know that's a shitty game, that out of context) with 60-100fps.

In the picture you'll see my speccy stats. Please help a /b/ro out. What should I upgrade and why, and what MUST I upgrade + why.

If you need a specific page of Speccy, ask for it and I will post it ASAP.
>>
Stick a few slices of bread in there, it's toast time.
>>
Redo your thermal paste. Your CPU should not be above 100C. I bet that will fix your fps issues.
>>
>>732546024
100c isn't even possible.
>>
Agreed. Best you can do for that poor PC is redo your thermal paste , and prob get a better heatsink. Try a container water cooler. A CPU should never be that high temp. Especially idle...

Ffs. What's wrong with you op?
>>
>>732545804
You self built a computer... And chose Amd, Radeon and Seagate over more, well... common parts like Intel, GeForce and WD... Yet don't know the CPU is frying itself (probably due to poor installation) and further don't know you need a better Graphics card for... Better Graphics.

This be bait right?
>>
>>732546252
I just closed the game. It's normally like fucking 100 degrees to a maximum of 140.
Normally it's on 70 degrees idle.
>>
>>732546293
Wasn't really asking for graphics. Just performance. frame rate increase.
>>
>>732546346
Dude. You shouldn't be accepting and higher then 80 even at 100% usage imo.

Bet your computer sounds like an airplane taking off?

Try water cooling. It'll change your world.
>>
>>732546088
You're incorrect.

I was working on a laptop with a bad fan with an Intel processor. Got up to ~105C.
>>
>>732546293
You're baiting.

AMD is fine for budgets. "GeForce" is overpriced and R9 200 series can easily handle the games he mentioned. But you're right, Seagate is shit.
>>
>>732546530
You win.
I really don't know how to reply to this.
You couldn't possibly have 'self built' a computer full of more... lets say 'enthusiast' parts without knowing that Gaming performance is 99% Graphics card. (So long as the rest of the machine is basically compatible with it {Pcie 3.0 etc})

Is that a 290? You want more ram and a cooler cpu like everyone said.
>>
>>732546941
I really tried not to start an amd vs intel thing... So i chose the word 'enthusiast' here>>732546969 to suggest... well there not as generic and generally require more knowledge about pc's to build an amd rig.

You're right in what you say tho, especially the Seagate is a steaming pile of shit part.

Overheating is your biggest concern. Performance is impacted by heat, and AMD is known to run HOT. If replacing your cpu with a cheap intel is out of the question then get a new heatsink for your cpu.
I'm willing to bet you're running stock and have never cleaned it.

Just went on Steam and saw some really bad news...

The game Alan Wake is gonna be removed from Steam soon, because the publisher didn't renew the rights for some songs in the game, so they won't be able to sell it anymore. You can still keep the game if you already have it, but it won't be sold in the future.

I'm currently away from home, and can't connect to Steam to purchase the game. I really liked the old Remedy games (Max Payne 1 and 2) and always wanted to try Alan Wake, but never bought it when it was on sale. This is the last opportunity to get it, before it gets removed from the Steam store or any other market.

I'd buy it myself if I was at home, but I'm away for a few more months still. I know that begging is bad, but I have no other choice than to ask someone to gift it to me. I know you guys spend a lot of money on skins in games, so I was wondering if anyone could skip on one item, and purchase me the game, that will give me hours of fun and enjoyment.

The game is on sale right now, before it gets removed. It's not 25% off, nor 50%, nor 75%... but 90% off! The game is literally reduced to 2.99$, which is the price of a chewing gum pack. I'm away and can't access Steam to buy it... even at that price.

Can anyone help me out?

Just hit me up on this temporary email, and I'll give you my Steam profile link.

[email protected]

P.S: I'm really away from home, and you'll see that my account was last active around 200-300 days ago.

I'm not op but I have 32gb of DDR4 ram that I use for a nice replay buffer using OBS.

Other replay buffers (like ShadowPlay) save the buffer in your hard drive which can wreck your SSDs with constant writes. OBS uses your ram and only writes to your drive when you save.

>>
Not much more that can be said. If you're running 1080p your processor is doing the brunt of the work. And it will drop frames at those temps.

Redo your thermal paste and drop a few bucks on a good aftermarket cooler. Sorry but I don't use AMD so I don't have any recommendations. I suggest checking Amazon, PCpartpicker, or Newegg for highly rated ones.

VMwarei Fusion: Two running virtual machines (Windows 10, macOS Sierra)
Adobe Photoshop CC: Four 1+gb 36 MP professional, multi-layer photos
Adobe InDesign CC: A 22 page photography-intensive project
Xcode: Four production Objective-C projects, all cleaned and rebuilt
Microsoft PowerPoint: A slide deck presentation
Microsoft Word: A 20+ page document with graphics
MachOView: Analyzing a daemon binary
Mozilla FireFox: Viewing a website
Safari: viewing a different website
Preview: Three PDF books
Hopper Disassembler: Performing an analysis on a binary
WireShark: Performing a live network capture as I do all of this
IDA Pro 64-bit: Analyzing a 64-bit intel binary
Apple Mail: Viewing four mailboxes
Tweetbot: Reading all the flames and trolls in my mentions
iBooks: Currently viewing an ebook I paid for
Skype: Logged in and idling
Terminal: A few sessions idling
iTunes
Little Flocker
Little Snitch
OverSight
Finder
Messages
Veracrypt
Activity Monitor
Path Finder
Console

at once, you only use 14.5 gigs of Ram.
So the only thing where you should go for more than 20gigs of ram is when you usually browse with 40Tabs of Google Chrome.

For 1080p your graphics card is acceptable. At least at medium settings.

You want a newer CPU (which means new board and RAM), although 8GB is still fine if you get the new memory standard.

An SSD in certain games may help a lot as well.

OP... that better fucking not be your idle temp.

You desperately need at least a heatsink which I'm assuming you don't have based on that temp. If you can get yourself a radiator (water cooling) system for it. If your case has shit airflow on top of that lack of cpu cooling you need to a better case with some good fan placement to get rid of additional heat. A cool PC is a much happier PC. The secret about PCs is they usually don't like having any of their components hot enough to cook a fucking hot dog on.

Not the point. When an OS stops being supported, it stops being updated which just makes it a matter of time before an other exploit is found.

When does support for Windows 7 end?

Microsoft ended mainstream support for Windows 7 on January 13, 2015, but extended support won’t end until January 14, 2020.

This applies as long as you have Service Pack 1 installed. If you haven’t installed Service Pack 1 already, you should do it now

It got bitchy about the small primary SSD when I tried and I ended up missing out on the freebie period. When I can one of the first things I'm doing is a much bigger SSD primary and throwing 10 on it. Only reason I'm not doing it now is I've got guns and bulk ammo purchases to pay off and a car to fix.

Meh I'ma switch to 4k when I get the 1) money again 2) buying that parts that will be able to handle 4k at 144hz, basically 2X the power hungry than this setup

Yeah yeah I saw that on Linus Tech Tips, but is there any GPU that is able to output 4K 144hz?
>>
>>732550629
It's DDR, faggot. Meaning 1600Mhz.
>>
>>732555803
A 1080ti can run "some" games at 4k, 144hz. Most of the newer games (3 years or so), it can't. However I have two 1080ti's so I should be able to do it with most games.

>decent $800 computer
>sub-$100 CPU

Pick one.
>>
>>732555803
The problem with 144Hz isn't really GPU, it's the CPU. Games aren't designed to be ran at 144Hz, so in many (new) games even if you have GPU power to spare, you'll just run into a CPU bottleneck.
>>
>>732556045
Nice one you're ahead of the game, until 1-2 years that is

Yeah, but my last GPU's were two 660ti's. Figured it was time for a GPU upgrade. So went with the best a month back.

Yeah most games can *some probably won't really put out 144hz though like emulators or maybe old old games), but you're pointing out a outlier like skyrim. I'm talking about in terms of compatibility, like if the 1080ti has displayport 1.3 on it; also for CPU bound games like the source engine of course, but that's only becasue the games are CPU bound, so then you gotta get a good CPU to handle that shit. Sadly though, a game like gmod (it's just an example) literally choke holds my cpu despite being a i7-6700k, I can make it drop to 10fps by simply spamming particles or looking at the entirety of a large map

are you running cp server there, with all that space ?
>>
Its been said but your computer is overheating.

Redo thermal paste, keep the case on a place with airflow, clean fans or get better ones, dust everything

hi friend

pic related is my CPU, what are some other programs to test my CPU temps on then?
>>
>>732557527
You need new Thermal paste. Even a horribly dirty heatsink isn't going to get you those temps, but bad Thermal paste will.

Is this real? All my precious dx9 games who need 16gb of ram!

I'll be getting a new cooler soon, and then I'll upgrade around that
Cryorig H5 Ultimate, or something better if there's a sale within the next week or so

Thermal paste is thermal paste. The grading really only differs by a degree or two.
