mines gravity fed like for my washer at least one barrel drains directly into a drum in my basement next to my washer and I made a cut off valve that it stops filling at different intervals I can set to keep from overflowing in my house lol but from there most washers have an inline pump built in, even though most water goes into it with pressure they still are equipped with pumps to avoid who knows what law suit probably someone sued at some point. But yeah in your house wherever it's hooked up through those lines you just have to redo some pipes, don't skimp on plumbing.... very important lol never skimp on it. If your washer is on the same level you could use a sump pump to run a line from a barrel outside to a reservoir inside above the washer, or if you have a top fill old washer you can just run the hose into the washer from the top. It's good to just sit iwth a pencil and pad for a bit and work out different ways you can have water moving and what not and what's practical for you. Sump pumps are a god send and also cleanse the system periodically with bleach, o yeah and don't forget that 55 gallons of water is pretty fucking heavy and destructive ...

After an EF-0 and hailstorm the folks that redid our roof and gutters completely fuckered everything and they constantly just overflow onto the porch and yard, never making it to the downspouts. Since i need to add two more downspouts on the corners anyway I've been seriously considering some rain barrels and putting that water to more use than just a garden. That or expanding my garden significantly. I've seen some really nifty "air pruning" designs that use rain barrels, a length of gutter, 2x4's, and a float valve in order to bottom-feed water to plants. My house has two 55gal rain barrels. One is for watering my garden when it's dry, and the other is for my steam distiller. I recently added a filter to it so most of the organics are filtered out and I don't have to clean the distiller so much.

I live in a small town. Municipal water starts with lots of iron in it. So the town salts the shit out of the water. So now, the tap water is salty AF. Potted plants die within a month if you water them with tap water. I never have to add salt to anything I cook. Drinking tap water leaves you MORE thirsty than you were before. Showers leave you itchy all over without body wash.

So yeah, capturing rainwater is something of a necessity for me.

The funniest thing is to see how working/labor laws in USA are weak, then instead of the employer paying, the consumer should do it so the illusion that you system works fine will perpetuate.

Tipping is a courtesy custom. An habit at most, not a rule or a law. In my country the emplyer will pay their employee and this one will receive his tip if he did a good work (10%). I SHOULD NOT feel like it's an obligation or a rule because this will incentivize the emplyee to do a poor work knowing people feel the obligation to tip.

You should not take the responsibility of the employer to pay the salary.
