I don't understand why they believe what they do. I see no reason to believe anything that Joseph Smith fellow had to say. He seemed like a dime-a-dozen wannabe prophet whackjob. At this point in history, with all that has happened, we as a species need to put these religious delusions behind us and just stick to the evidence. If God is real, he needs to stop toying with us. Studied different Christian religons and converted 6 years ago. The Plan of Salvation is very detailed and answers all the gotcha questions other Christian religions can't answer. Having a modern prophet, just makes sense considering how the world has changed since Jesus left. If you study the Bible, the connections with the Book of Mormon are very interesting and actually fascinating. The members are nice and will actually help you. If you're looking for a religion, it's pretty great. Sometimes it can be hard though, for me personally just felt like everyone is so perfect and will feel kinda like an outcast when you like anime, listen to explicit music or watch R movies. The word of wisdom can be hard to follow too at times, but at the end of the day I havent regretted my choice. Im not perfect, I mean I spend hours on this site after all... I'm not perfect but then again I dont have to be :)

I sat in my now empty apartment, staring at my cell phone, waiting for a text that would never come. Despite the multiple attempts to call her, the texts I sent, the emails I sent, there was no response.

Eventually I got in my car and drove the 3 hours to her parents house. Her father came out and accused me of beating my own wife. He attacked me and I left without seeing my wife.

Later that night, no call came. Nothing came. I looked on facebook, and it was clear what was happening.

It worked, and I saved the last message she ever sent me before blocking me. I received divorce papers in the mail not long after our last conversation, which I let default in court, granting her the divorce without any hitches.

your premise is wrong. if god exists, he exists. subsequently if a plan has been put into motion that requires us to have faith or follow certain commandments to recieve certain blessings, that is it. by all means, you don't have to (free agency) but it is no skin off gods nose, as it were, if you choose not to.

of course they are allowed. while there might be outliers, with strange teachings or views as in any large group of people, the membership are encouraged to seek out truth, to ask about what they dont know, and so on. what is sometimes done is if someone has a strong disagreement with a central tenant of the church, and continues to speak out or challenge the church on it, they may be excommunicated. which seems reasonable to me. if a particular religion claims some belief, thats it. if you dont agree with it, you leave. why should an entire religion change because a few people dont agree with it?

no, they are pretty clear that it primarily is for those who had a true knowledge (usually a complete testimony or actually witnessed god) and then rejected him. the reason they may not be 100% clear on who gets into where is because it is ther belief that it is only jesus and god who can judge those things. all they can tell you is what is required to get to certain "degrees of glory" as the doctrine states, not a guaranteee you will make it.

I don't, usually. If I find out they are Mormon, I tend to log them somewhere in rationality between the tinfoil hat people and Scientologists, just a bit more harmless but boring. I used to respect them in the way I do most people of faith, slightly skewed from reality but clinging to stories of hope. Then, I read the Book of Mormon and looked into it's history. Damn. Nothing that batshit crazy can be rationalized in any way unless your were indoctrinated from birth. Crazier than Scientology, but at least they aren't super-toxic like Scientology. Most Mormons are decent people.

There are three tiers of heaven-celestial, terrestrial, and telestial. All of which are better than earth.
Celestial-you don't have to be perfect, but you have to genuinely try to be and be baptized (you may be baptized post death)
Terrestrial-generally good people that haven't accepted the gospel yet, I'm not entirely certain what sins would land you here instead of elsewhere though
Telestial-Stalin, Hitler, Dahmer, etc will all reside here
