I was raised Christian. Went through a rough time at school but prayed often. My prayers were never answered and all I ever asked for were simple things like guidance in life so my life wouldn't be so shit. Things got worse.

In the end, giving up on religion was probably more helpful to me in the long run, but my family keep trying to pull me back in, and my little brother is a hardcore Christian (and also a youth pastor).

Not... really a question, but I thought I'd just put this out there. I'm agnostic now because no one can truly prove that God exists, and because of the way the brain works, it's easy to tell yourself something subconsciously and think some higher power is actually talking to you.

That being said, I have no problem with people having their religions (except Islam - fuck Islam, it's not a religion of peace in any way, shape or form, and is just a bunch of regressive, oppressive shite), but I don't like it being forced down my throat, which I've found most Christians (and not radical, often American types of Christians, mind you - I'm talking about more mild ones) to do even though they say they don't.

Anyway, that's just my story. Do with it what you want. I'll believe in God again when someone shows me concrete evidence of his existence.

Right... but that is just an anecdotal personal experience. In a different life, you could have just been sitting outside of Brazilian jiu-jitsu gym... and they welcomed you in and gave you the "fellowship" and purpose in life you lacked in life... or yoga... or any of an infinite number of possibilities.

You attribute your changes to this obecommunity and these particular teachings when it could have been any trigger to get your brain to work in a way you find more agreeable.

This is the particular place you fell into that gives you purpose and meaning in life. Plenty of us in the world find that in other ways. There is no emptiness of heart or lack of morality.

That is something you should consider next time you want to prostelyze to the "low" or whatever you think this is.
