Beer is a thing you need to learn to love. I didn't like the taste until I was 21, after which I started studying, rendering me so poor I couldn't afford going to bars and sipping on cocktails the whole night. So I basically switched to beer, and after the first couple weeks I actually started enjoying the taste. Now I just love it - depending on the brand/ kind, not every beer tastes good.

I like the taste due to positive association. Same reason I like the taste of nicotine gum (most hate it).

I think the sheer number of different styles available kinda got rid of the IPA craze, but I will honestly admit that IPAs are my favorite style. I've been drinking Ballast Point Habeñero Sculpins for like two months now, a habeñero infused spicy IPA. I love Six Point Resin and High-Res as well, double and triple IPAs respectively. I'd say the most common ones people carry that aren't pisswater would be Stella and Peroni, which are basically identical except the former is from Belgium and the latter is from Italy. Not a fan of beer generally. Or at least not the beer you get around here in supermarkets and bars whether its the decent quality one or not.

But i got lucky to live near a bar that sells more than 220 different sorts of beer. Went there the first time when i turned 16 with my brother and his wife, they paid so i had the freedom to try as much as i could. Found some really well tasting beer there.

I love that bitter flavor of a beer. I can definitely notice a significant difference in a cheap beer and a fancy beer, but I'll enjoy either.

I legit enjoy the taste of certain beers. I fucking love Guinness and other dark beers like a good porter. Hefeweizens are probably my favorite light beer. Not really a big fan of pale ales or IPAs. I generally drink for flavor though, and not to get drunk, so I stick with what I like and not what's cheap, which I think aids in my enjoyment of beer.

To answer the question, beer taste like shit, if you had to describe it accurately to someone, it's like carbonated water mixed with black coffee and lime with a metal after taste, it's an acquired taste because people love the taste of shit, just like those smelly cheeses and pickled foods people love the horrible taste. People make no sense and they never will.
