If you're really looking for happiness, I'd recommend finding your purpose. It's definitely a hard task for some people. There are many philosophers you could read about that might help. But honestly, your best bet is to make a goal for your life, something that matters to you, and do it.

Here's some things that if I did in my life I would be more or less "happy"
1. Do not question anything you don't need to, only meet you basic needs and keep moving on.
2. Enjoy physical pleasure more than intellectual.
3. Let your self be a fool through love.
4. Become a devout born again christian and only hang around other devout born again Christians and believe every bit of dogma they give you.

7. Do not become well versed in History and Religion.

The chief end of man is bring glory to God's kingdom, if I can maintain a consistent track of spreading the good news and helping others to advance the kingdom of God I find that I want very little of this world. It's freeing really, not being a slave to materialistic, monotonous, consumerisitic culture.
