There were more beautiful stores, better service from employees, higher ethical standards, higher quality items that lasted longer, etc.. No DLC in your games. No pesky ads. 2 was fifteen in 97. I think it was a little better than now because we were still at the point where kids were allowed to be kids.

Parents these days keep their kids on a much tighter leash. Even me. Kids can't go down the block or play in the woods or just kinda run around town without their parents getting antsy. Same could be said about previous generations too.

These days, we are very overprotective and here in Canada the zero tolerance thing in schools is turning them into major pussies. A little teasing is now considered bullying. I dunno, were the 90s better? Not really.... But kids still had some freedom and a chance to go out and be themsves.
