FLOYD ROSE USER HERE

Why do people bitch about setting these things up? Once it's set up correctly it's been the BEST tremolo I have ever used, once the strings are stretched and the floyd is level with the body it will stay in tune rock solid.

I would choose those over any hardtail bridge, it will stay in tune better than any locking tuners. Once it's locked at the not there is no room for it to slack off, even locking tuners can slack off a bit.

Also the build quality of the german made floyd rose is superior to any other trem, i think the original edge trem is also hardened steel too?

No wonder a lot of pro's still use this thing, floyd rose was a genius.

A genuine Floyd is great. I have one on my Schecter and it has stayed in tune for over a year. Cheap ones are a pain in the ass

I actually prefer the surface mount ones where there's no routing cavity and you can only do dives. I have one on my kramer with a d-tuna
>>
>>731621804
Never had a guitar with tremolo but I actually heard great things about Floyd Rose.
>>
>>731622605

YEAH MAN

Mine is a top mount only so I can pull back a little.

I don't really do the dive thing at all.

Only thing about top mount is I find when changing all the strings the floyd comes off the posts pretty easily.
>>
>>731621804
The only real issue is if you break a string at a gig and don't have a 2nd guitar to switch to.
>>
>>731622792

it's the best feeling bridge on the hand, you can't even feel it while playing
>>
>>731622863

yeah thats true

but if you get good strings like d'addario nyxl you probably won't break a string, i havent broken a string in 10 years.
>>
>>731622880
I don't actually mind feeling a brige, my guitar has tune-o-matic one and resting my hand against it always felt good.

Guitar tech here. You're wrong about locking tuners. What you're experiencing is more likely the strings binding in the nut a little bit.
>locking tuners
>roller nut
>standard trem
>divebomb with impunity

got one of these bad girls on my ibanez, nothing hard to tune about it. like seriously you have to be some kind of autistic not to be able to set up something this simple.
>>
>>731622605
Schecters dont have original floyd roses made in germany but their Korean made counterparts . Still good though i have a hellraiser fr and it stays in tune very well .

Best tremolo I've used for tuning, touch and feel is a Gibson one on my firebird.

If you change string gauges or try a different tuning your floyd will get fucked .
>>
>>731623809
Maestros are crap sir.
>>
>>731623595

The guitar I had with locking tuners had a new bone nut install, but when i woke up in the morning every time the strings would be a bit flat.

May it was the nut, maybe theres no way around it?

The locking tuners were from a mexican charvel, but the tuners did not feel cheap.
>>
>>731623936

well you adjust the spring tension but you cant do it on the fly in a live show
>>
>>731623809
HA
>>
>>731624148
could just be temperature of the room.
>>
I hade a Jackson back when everything was coming out with Floyds. I had four different techs set the thing up and it never stayed in tune. A good fixed bridge guitar with brass saddles and a bone nut, is the only way to go.
>>
>>731624279

this could also be the factor, in winter months the humidty is WAY down in the room
>>
You have to prestretch your strings. Most people don't know that.
>>
>>731624385
If it was a cheap Jackson floyd it makes sense . with floyds you gotta have a good one or go fixed bridge . Most licended floyds suck balls hard .
>>
>>731624502

I did with that guitar but it was either tuners slipping/humidity/bone nut
>>
>>731621804
yeah really any double locking trem is great, but whammy bar is kind of a gimmicky thing that people don't use much anymore.
>>
>>731624573

the german floyd is superior to the licensed models

>>731624385
Probably just bad techs. There are a lot of them out there. I've set up literally hundreds of them with no problems. The licensed ones aren't even that bad tbh. I just find the entire system to be obsolete because >>731623595
>>
>>731624728
Ofc but most "budget" guitars use a korean made special series . It is branded as that ( floyd rose special )nowadays but some years ago it was not .
>>
>>731624877
Nice paintjob and non recessed floyd . Dam cool guitar man .
>>
>>731625183

yeah man it's a 2016 charvel neck

got the body off ebay

the guy who put it together has restored some of PAUL STANLEYS's old gibsons.
>>
>>731625343
ok.
>>
Floyd rose are simple to set up just like anything on a guitar but hell I've never seen a guitar ever stay in tune for a couple months in my opinion all guitars go out of tune over time.just with a whammy bar u streach out the stings and they will eventually loss there tune the only thing bad about locking Floyd rose is it takes 10mins to changes shit
>>
i dont think ive ever used a tremolo enough to justify having one. most of my guitars havehard tails or tune-o-matics. although i got a mustang just like this one which is kinda cool

>>
>>731626506
No they are not, since the stratocaster was specifically designed an an electric guitar, unlike les paul, which is basically a smaller copy of Gibson archtops from the 30s, its neck construction is a disaster, it's one of the most uncomfortable musical instruments, its tune-o-matic system can't compete with bridges that can adjust every string in 2 dimensions independently. Needless to say unadjustable wraparounds on cheaper les pauls are a crime against music.

ITT: liars

the reason floyd rose are an issue, is because guitars staying in tune sometimes has less to do with strings and tuners. And more to do with humidity and the amount of it either bowing or yawing the neck.

a floyd rose is good if you want to do dives, and play through an entire show ONCE you have it tuned, not to KEEP it in tune.

retards.
>>
>>731624502
Seriously? Any half-competent guitarist knows that you have to stretch the strings in order to get it in tune. This is especially true with Floyd Rose.

>>731621804
For me, the supertuners are what makes them superior. It's really easy to dial in perfect harmonic tuning with them.
>>
>>731627261
don't play Oasis. I play fingerstyle, rockabilly, and early country on that guitar

>>
There is a reason vintage gear users only play open chords and simple pentatonic licks .
>>
>>731627736
but its the exact same guitar just made by different companies.
>>
>>731627736
well the kramer is just a strat body with deeper cutaways hence the superstrat designation. hell if you're worried about fretboard access just get v style body.
>>
gibson sg standard.
>>
Not a fan of tremolo bridges, but I agree with you on one thing: if you're gonna use a tremolo bridge, get a genuine Floyd Rose.
Sometimes the most popular brand of a product is overrated, but this is definitely not the case.
