No, Hawkins developed that disease after he was a successful college student. He wouldn't have been thrown off the cliff in Sparta, he would have died in combat as a teenager when his muscles gave out on him in a battle.

Also, Hawkins never had to rely on government assistance, he came from a well-to do family and was cared for, though he does probably get a check he doesn't even need now.

and for the record, I am against euthenazia. I think everyone should be allowed to live their life, but when it's at the expense of everyone else, some concessions (reproductive rights) must be made in order to keep the system viable.
