Ah, that explains a lot. Sorry to hear that. On the other hand, Voyager isn't complete shit, it's just that it's nothing compared to TNG. Sadly, nothing will ever be on the same level as TNG again.
>>
>>730939534
Pretty much this. I hated Voyager when it first came out, but going back to it, it was very good. I had the exact same thing happen with DS9 and in both cases I'm sure it can be blamed on a weak first season. I mean hell, even TNG (which is the best and any other opinion is wrong) had a shitty season 1. But yeah back to Voyager, I think Janeway is the second best captain after Picard. Her voice is irritating as fuck but other than that, great lead.

I would even say that the first 2 seasons were mediocre but after that it has been golden.

Like always, the "non-human" characters are the best (Doctor and Seven. In previous series Data and Odo).

What the fuck did you just fucking say about me, you little Bajoran? I’ll have you know I graduated top of my class in the Obsidian Order, and I’ve been involved in numerous secret raids on the Bajoran Resistance, and I have over 300 confirmed kills. I am trained in Mugato warfare and I’m the top sniper in the entire Cardassian armed forces. You are nothing to me but just another target. I will wipe you the fuck out with precision the likes of which has never been seen before on this Bajor, mark my fucking words. You think you can get away with saying that shit to me over Subspace? Think again, fucker. As we speak I am contacting my secret network of spies across the Alpha Quadrant and your IP is being traced right now so you better prepare for the storm, vole. The storm that wipes out the pathetic little thing you call your life. You’re fucking dead, kid. I can be anywhere, anytime, and I can kill you in over seven hundred ways, and that’s just with my bare hands. Not only am I extensively trained in unarmed combat, but I have access to the entire arsenal of the Cardassian Central Command and I will use it to its full extent to wipe your miserable ass off the face of the southern continent, you little shit. If only you could have known what unholy retribution your little “clever” comment was about to bring down upon you, maybe you would have held your fucking tongue. But you couldn’t, you didn’t, and now you’re paying the price, you goddamn idiot. I will shit trilithium resin all over you and you will drown in it. You’re fucking dead, kiddo.

DS9 was the best over all

I just cant pick up a random DS9 episode and rewatch it. Not sure why that is. Some movies are like that too. I LOVE them so much but just cant watch them several times. But movies that werent so good i can watch endlessly.

Voyager is like that for me. Not counting TOS, i has the worse episodes. TNG i feel has more over all bad episodes, but none as bad as Threshold, for example.

Voyager is the mindless action movie of the franchise.

Yes, there is a lot of dialogue, but most of the time it's quite engaging, especially on TNG.

Don't expect a lot of crazy action or fight scenes. Expect interesting concepts and unique questions about the human condition.
>>
>>730942697
I personally like Star Trek way more than Star Wars, but they're really different. A person might easily like one, or the other, or neither, or both. I would just start watching some random episodes of Next Generation. Last I checked, it still comes on BBC America all the time. There's no need to start at the beginning, for two reasons. 1) the first season was kinda shit, and 2) most episodes are generally self-contained stories anyway.

Personally, I love it. I watched it episode-by-episode last year, and didn't skip one. After a while, you feel like part of the crew.

I think most people just bandwagon it, being TNG-purists. Voyager was the very 'spirit' of Star Trek, in that it explored
>strange new worlds
and literally went where no (hu)man had gone before. It was basically Red Dwarf without the comedy.

For anyone who cares, Ronald D. Moore wanted Voyager to be very much how Battlestar turned out. His version would have been a lot more serialized, with the ship becoming more and more damaged over time. He wanted to make a Star Trek that was much more about survival and some darker themes.

The producers wanted another TNG with self contained happy endings each episode (hence the "voyager reset button".

TLDR, BSG is what Voyager could have been.

Slightly off topic, is anyone else worried about the new series?

Hell, especially during the Borg space encounter there was so much potential with the technology mix. Instead, they hamfist in Chakotay making a completely out-of-character decision.

TNG
VOY
TOS
DS9
ENT

IN THAT ORDER.

Discovery will be the bottom of the pile if they every completely shoot even one season. Its like they are trying hard to fail.

Odo was one of the shittier bits of DS9. Honestly the show would have been as good or better without him literally hanging out in a bucket.

CBS
And yeah, my hopes aren't high. It has all the markings of failure before it ever gets off the ground. They're spending a ton of money. So even it is the best series ever, it is so far looking like it's doomed from inception

After learning to tolerate the moany frequenc y of Janeways voice, i really enjoyed voyager, TNG had a lot more daed silent bridge scenes where the bridge crew would be doing jack shit. That is the only reason why i enjoy voyager more.
>>
>>730946187
Yes, DISCOVERY is going to end hopes of having more Star Trek ever made. The show is going to be absolute shit. Honestly I'm starting to think that CBS/NetflixInternational are going to pull the plug on it and never finish it. If Netflix International (outside USA/Canada) hadn't paid so much upfront for it CBS would have stopped production by now. Its going to be 1 year + late at this point.

>>730946357
Its like the sat down and tried to figure out how to kill ST once and for all. It is literally so unwatchable they have reset whole characters now. I just honestly don't understand how they couldn't just create a new star ship, pick a place in the timeline (Ideally post VOY), scribble down some notes about happening, create a few new alien species, make a half vulcan or klingon, find a leading man or woman to captain the ship, shoot the thing and broadcast it on network tv.

You could tell VOY was just left over scripts from TNG. I really wish they had taken a risk (and I see why they didn't since it was peak Trek at the time) and made it about survival.

Imagine if it was more a Game of Thrones style were main characters actually could die or maybe disappear and come back later in their journey across the quadrant? Make energy somehow scarce and beat the ship up.

Fuck even take out a warp nacelle early so they have to limp at like warp 3 for a season but then get a new borg looking one later!

Voyager had the most appearances by Q. So hands down best Star Trek TV show. TNG had annoying fuckstains like Dr. Whatshername and that useless whiny awful waste of human Lt. Whatshername in charge of security. The storylines in TNG were repetitive.

That said ... the all time best episode for any ST show was the Picard one where he lived a whole lifetime on a planet in the 30 minutes or whatever that he was knocked the fuck out.
