not bad, it's no American Gods level genius tho
>>730718835
Yeah I should probably put that one on my reading list. Waiting for this book to arrive any day now. Amazon really fucking me over with this one.
>>730718473
DUNE BOX BABY. GET IN ON THAT DUNE CLUB
Do yourselves a favour
>>730718473
Thus spake Zarathrustra
>>730719804
almost but the final third is some seriously tiresome shit.
>>730719897
a wise choice, with being and nothingness for afters
>>730718473
The Hobbit
All that retarded shit that they added for the movie was pure bollocks, the book is fantastic!
>>730719948
Agreed, great read though.
Could just skip the last part but it has a decent ending if you grit it out
>>730720075
I tried watching the Hobbit and got like 15 minutes in. Enjoyed all 3 LoTR movies way more. The book isn't that bad though.
>>730720075
i love lotr and the silmarillion and the narn but tbh even for me some parts of the hobbit are ridiculously cringeworthily fucking childish.
i just try to ignore and skip those parts.
especially the poems are fukin teletubbies tier.
>>730720403
I really need to give the simarillion a try eventually.
If you like Dune, try out Heinlein's "The Moon is a Harsh Mistress." It's one of my favorite books and won a Hugo I believe
>>730720498
it's fucking great.
everywhere i see it's a "HARD READ".
and i don't even understand what the fucking fuck is that supposed to mean. are normies fucking dislexic or something?
it's pretty good and entertaining.
Ready player one

The Dark Tower - Stephen King.
There are 7 books in the series and the movie is due out in December (well the first instalment) I would recommend trying to get through the first two before the film drops.
The first one The Gunslinger is a relatively small book and easy read.
Give them a whirl. Excellent.

>Mu'adib
Yuss!
First? Break the rules and judge 1984 by its cover.
Next? Go read the extended version (unedited) "A Stranger in a Strange Land".
Last? Well, you would just have to find that out some other way; Like with less palindrome books than Grisham.
>>730718473
Might as well just /thread it here tbh. Dune is GOAT.
>>730718473
Too bad all the sequels sucked but this book is fantastic
>>730721241
Not a fan of Stephen King but if the book is short might as well give it a try I suppose.
>>730718473
a future without commercialism is not worth it.
>>730721548
>all the sequels sucked
Only Brian's sucked, man. Everything through Chapterhouse was tits. Original was most tits, though.
>>730721548
I personally love all of the classic dune books. Very surprised to hear someone say they didn't like the 4th one atleast. The ones that Brian Herbert wrote with the starwars guy are pretty shit imo.
>>730721611
Trust me it's nothing like the usual King stuff. Think a cross over between LOTR and any other fantasy haha
>>730720403
You do realize the hobbit was intended to be a children's book right?
> Stormlight Archive
>>730721882
yes.
> Malazan Book of The Fallen
>>730722034
So you realize your statement about it being cringewortily childish makes you look autistic?
oh wait i remember a good series now!
The Painted Man
>>730722245
yes.
do you realize child poetry doesn't necessarily have to be gibberish shit?
>>730721882
It's still a fucking excellent book.
You do realise being a trap is gay.
>>730722770
Read the comment he replied to, for context. He wasn't saying the Hobbit wasn't good. He's arguing with a moron.
>>730721241
Currently on book 3 just now and it's good.
Also, listing the Robert Jordan series the wheel of time for those who want to punish themselves.
Great adventure but can be a choir at times
Also Ready Player One for anyone in the 40's and late 30's nostalgic as fuck
>>730722183
Muddled formulaic confusing shit right there.
>>730723458
>Formulaic
>Confusing

Hairy Muff
>>730722183
im reading midnight tabes . and i lov it
>>730723458
yep. it is . still love it
>>730718473
Where the fuck do I go to download/read PDFs?
>>730718473
Scifi go tos are Asimov and Bova
>>730718473
The Wheel of Time has always been a favorite. I'd probably put it as my favorite series, over the LOTR and Dune.
>>730724876
http://qnovels.com/241224-dune.html
If you never read it then I guess that place would be a good starting point. However, you can buy the mass market paper back version for like 5 dollars on amazon so idk why you wouldn't just do that.
>>730724876
the bay?
>>730724876
Blacklibrary (or maybe blacklib) is good, mostly epub/mobi but worth a look
>>730718473
That book is about a guy who uses his "voice power" to fuck women, right?
>>730720801
That book is nothing like Dune, although it is way fucking better
>>730719230
Muh Kvothe. Ridiculously over-rated books. All of his characters are trope-laden Mary Sues.
>>730725772
I mean kinda.
My fav book is probably "Gateway" by Frederick Pohl. Also anything by Phillip K Dick but I'd recommended A Scanner Darkly or Time Out of Joint first
>>730725772
Maybe you should read it lol
>>730725772
That and wearing plastic suits that collect your sweat and piss for drinking. Also full of so much fantasy bullshit that anyone who calls it sci fi is a fucking normie
>>730726078
you're right, but I still enjoy the hell out of it. Hopefully the third book will come out in the next decade or so.
>>730726487
Yeah I've heard it described as sci fi for people who don't read sci fi quite alot and it fits. Still really enjoy the series though.
>>730725581
I can unsee rand as nicolas cage on the cover
>>730726988
Kek, next time you read it, that's how you'll see him in your mind
900+ pages of awesomeness, and does a style like "A Song of Fire and Ice" pretty well, minus the fantasy genre.
try and prove why this isn't one of the greatest books ever written
>(protip, you can't)
>>730720403
it IS a childrens book...
>>730725772
really, isn't that how every guy gets some?
>>730721241
Since the movie is said to begin where the book series ended you should read the series before the movie. Yes the ending of the book series sucks but as a launching point for the movies it at least makes sense and we hopefully get closure this go around.
>>730721241
This series is a roller coaster. If you want to experience thousand pages of the darkest fantasy slash horror slash western slash psycho turning into deus-ex-machinaed lukewarm shit please read all of it. King just really lost his ability when he regained his sanity in his first clean years
>>730728963
some of it drags
Saga of recluce is a good series.
>>730720971
We are probably gonna catch shit about it, but I wholeheartedly agree with you. One of my favorites
Quick, before it gets raped by SyFy
>>730725772
In the movie they use devices to convert voice shouts into attacks, but thats just an adaptation for the "wierding ways." Which in the books is a style of fighting. And in either case I am sure it would have no doubt help in getting sum fuk.
>>730719804
Damn right
I have recommended this to several people, and everyone has loved it.
>>730728344
PKD is amazing
>>730729251
Also wonderful, but I actually preferred his Bridge trilogy
>>730725772
even worse, it's basically a sci-fi fantasy version of Mohammed and the birth of Islam
>>730722183
Currently in House of Chains. Good series
>>730727437
fuckkk you fGggott
>>730722183
One of the best series in existence
This nigga. Space opera that isn't fucking Star Wars
>>730718473
Pic related is my favorite novel
Anyone have any suggestions?
>>730719804
He hasn't written anything readable since Snow Crash...
And Herbert had some better stuff than Dune (which is still a favorite).
