No, if you use the wrong yeast at the wrong fermentation temps, the yeast can kick out some nasty esters in beer, nothing thatll harm you, you'll get a nasty headache, feel sick, etc. In distilling, the first ~500ml to run out is pure methanol which'll blind you if you drink it on the regular.
