all you have to do in ff8 is get a bunch of high level magic early on (drawing and GF abilities) and control your leveling. 8 is very easily broken before you even get back to balamb garden

with the exception of the last segment of the game. Stuff goes off the rails with absolutely no buildup and they force you to use units that can solo the rest of the game. That said, everything in the beginning and middle is phenomenal. Probably one of the few games out there where just playing it for a few hours grinding exp is the best part

But Planescape takes the cake, this was an 11/10 game. You could beat the entire thing without ever having to kill, or you could go around massacring left and right. Whole thing was up to you. Coupled with insane amounts of dialogue, and this is prolly my favourite game ever

We are in opposite boats. A few years back I tried to play the SNES version it seemed terribly hard to control. You're a hundred percent right about them being different games. Tried again with the cheat code its the fucking shit. ABBACAB start as the title rolls out then go to the blank spot at the pocket secretary. Save repeat. I first played through this in 2009. I was born in '92

This game has not aged one bit. MAYBE a little on the controlls but thats it. If it were to come out today the ratings would still be off the charts. One of my Top 3 games of all time for sure

Sega had a few good rpgs like shining and sword of vermilion. Sonic and other classics. But it also dominated sales outside america where everyone was more into sports.

Finally bit the dust because of its linup and advertising but it has its place had its day and def has some good games. Dont forget all the sega cd and 32x attachments too. And that they had sega saturn and dreamcast as well. They made some badass shit.
