I'm not usually against people liking things I don't like, but the problem with hellgremlins is that they're doing their thing in the name of fluffy fandom. We all love fluffies, but hellgremlins are literally trying to turn them into something everyone hates. Again, if the hg fandom was entirely separate it wouldn't be a problem, but it's making many newfags think things like baby hierarchies and sorry poopies are just things all fluffies do.

Speaking of sorry poopies, they originated from one story where a feral smarty encountered a skunk and deducted that it gave them "sorry poopies". It then ruled its herd with an iron colon, and that was the end of the silly one-off story. However, hellgremlinists took the idea of weaponized shitting and ran with it, because once again, everyone hates shit, and this would make fluffies more hateable. Hellgremlin isn't that much a type of fluffy, but a type of fandom. The point where they diverge from fluffies is in the very basis of what people come to them for: Fluffies for having fun with naive, innocent creatures, and hellgremlins for getting angry at an easily defeatable enemy. Again, it would be like packaging futa with females and calling them the same thing.

The feral vs domestic compromise has been suggested before, but it is heavily weighted in favor of hellgremlins. It would mean that good fluffies were a commodity you had to buy with money, while hellgremlins were what you encountered outdoors whether you wanted it or not. A world where the default feral encounter would be rapists and murderers insulting you and shitting on your shoes is not what fans of normal fluffies dream of.

I think hellgremlins also appeal to the same sorts of people who often enjoy human "justice porn". They don't feel comfortable with enjoying sadism on its own, but they can if they can find a way to convince themselves that they're enjoying seeing justice get served instead, or if it's served up in a way that caters to their ideas of morality.

I guess that's part of why hellgremlins don't do much for me - I couldn't really care less about what is and isn't moral.

Pony stuff is still banned here (and apparently the only thing you actually can get banned for in general), but fluffies have branched off from the mlp universe into its own universe where the ponies are just a show they were designed after. Fluffies being banned from /mlp/ made that official, to the point that someone telling fluffy threads to go back to /mlp/ is an instant way to spot someone new to 4chan.
