As for Gus Grissom he was one of NASA'S greatest astronauts.

They later found and raised the liberty Belle in the 1990s it was concluded from the investigation that the hatch did accidentally blow on accident.

In my opinion if Grissom and White had never died in the fire, they would have both gone and landed on the moon.
