Manual cars allow you to interact with the car more than you do with an automatic. Manuals are more for die-hard enthusiasts than practical people nowadays, in my opinion. Automatics are great, now with better fuel economy and less maintenance, but you cannot beat the satisfaction of shifting gears yourself, downshifting, etc. that you get with a manual.

I spent a lingbtime deciding on the challenger. Its my first real car. I had a toyota echo as my first car, got me thru college. It was automatic, easy to park. The challenger is a lot more fun. I couldnt be happier really. Its a reasonable mix of spacious, speed, comfort. Little sports cars are cool n all, but I cant imagine daily driving a tiny car again, even if it was fast.

The whole truck started going sideways, all of a sudden it came back! I'd hit a couple of boulders in the stream - as soon as it rolled off, the whole truck ended up in the stream, on it's side. I was 3 miles from the end of that road! After we shut down the whole road for 8 hours, we transferred the whole load to another truck, they air-bagged it upright, and I finished driving it to a tow shop. Believe it or not, I kept my job - I was getting in 3200 mi weeks...

Well, gas millage depends on how you drive. If you drive it like a nigger, then you will get shit millage. If the gearbox is also only a 5 speed (like mine) the car will rev pretty high over 70mphs so in an automatic with say 7 gears (like my last two Mercedes cars) driving at 80mph the thing was revving like my VDub revs at 66 or 67mph.

I drove a motorcycle for 10 years, a manual transmission of course, i really enjoy it. I was looking forward to getting a similar experience in my car. It fun to charge up a hill in low gear passing everyone, then throwing it in neutral before you get to the top, and seeing if you can time the momentum just right so you coast up and over the edge and all the way down the hill on the other side. Then leaving it in neutral and seeing how far you can go before needing to put it in 6th to keep you going. Or when im getting on the highway from a stop, gosh that a thrill, taking off from first hearing the wheels chirp as you take off, and letting it throw you back in your seat listening to the pipes howl as you take it to redline and in 5 seconds you hit 60 mph, and you put it in 6th and merge into traffic with the rest of the dopes.
