The American Cheese WAS originally a blen of cheddar and colby but now it's a 'cheese product'

That's not because it's plastic, although some the cheaps shit is mostly oil, it's still made of dairy but it's emulsified so the diary and fat and oil don't separate when heated(melted)

There is good and bad American cheese depending on what's it's made of and who makes it.

Just don't think of it like regular cheese which is something different. It's for burgers and other melty sandwiches. Otherwise you should only eat 'real' cheese.

American Cheese as in the actual kind of cheese? I'll go out on a limb and say that *actual* American Cheese is alright, but the processed kind is pretty much shit, but edible. I would imagine our overall quality of cheese is typically lower, though.

I'm from France which is a top cheese quality producing country and I ordered a can on the internet it was krafty's easy cheese american flavour and I can assure you it was the most disgusting shit I ever tasted, Ok they are some vegetables that I find really disgusting but at least it's natural. "American Cheese" is not actually cheese. In fact, it cannot be labelled "cheese" at all under U.S. Federal Law. In fact, it is a "cheese" made originally by the British colonists, and NOT "American" at all. The British colonists attempted to make their cheddar go further by blending it with other dairy products. The "American" portion of the name was only adopted by the British, who loved the cheese, and had tons of it exported from America to England, and thus called it "American cheese".
